Question about trades

Here is my concern...and I am in NO WAY suggesting anyone who is wanting to trade with me is going to try and get the best of me...I am wanting to trade my Coker and 2 Meucci cues...someone here has said they would be interested in trading their Bluegrass cue for my Coker and 2 Moochies....They have 1 post and 0 I-Trader.....if this was you, how would you handle this...I hate to be scammed...I am honest and will stand behind my word no matter...my feedback on Ebay will say it all also....I have sold welders drum equipment, RC trucks and everyhting else on there...and bought alot also....my feedback is 100% on Ebay.. my id is "tr1nalou" ...(my wifes name) would it be 2 much to ask to have this person send me his Bluegrass and me send him my cues after I recieve his...or do I just send mine out and hope for the best....I realize we all had to start at 0 at one time or another.........any suggestions...I value everyones opinion on here.....Thanks everyone, Shawn

ps. and yes, I realize escrow is an option...anyone have any other suggestions besides escrow

any other suggestions besides escrow? Personally....I am just leaning towards trusting the person...but would like some "wise" advise from the old timers on here that have been in this situation....everyones opion is helpful though..so I appreciate that HDR10....

i just completed a cue trade with patrickjuhlin few days ago, i sent him my cue and gave him the tracking number after he sent his and gave me the tracking number. he has my address, office and cell number and i have his. everything went well. i know that its harder now to trust people after all the scams happening here in az so i told him if he wants to he could sent his cue after he receives mine but he sent it anyways after i provided the tracking number. if he's legit he won't mind you shipping it after he receives it. it's still gonna work for him, 1. he gets a new cue to try and 2. he'll gain your trust and will be able to work with other azers in the future since you could vouch for him. :smile:
 
trusting a person with one post and no itrader is not very smart IMO. not saying everyone is a scammer but you never know. if you are willing to trade hundres of dollars in some cases thousands and are not willing to spend an extra 20-40$ to protect yourself then i guess you get what you desreve. sry to be so blunt but if you get hosed youll wish you spent that 40$
 
well since he has no itrader and you do then i would make him ship first. just a thought but i personally wouldnt trust someone with no reason. but hey thats just me. once you receive the cue then ship yours to him. its either that or an escrow service.

On there 1 post....Did you happen to notice the join date? Was it recent?

Yes, we all start at zero on both, but I would also take into consideration that as well.

I have a friend of mine who is going to be joining the forums soon himself. He has a collection of cues out of this world. From Scruggs to Schon and even a 1 of 1 Southwest custom.

I would argue anybody with his reputation when he does join.

LOL its ok HDR10...I am about brain dead myself tonight....I did have a thread wanting to buy some broken butts to practice on on my lathe ....a gu on here...(I was told to not mention names) said for 50.00 he would send me a really nice "project" cue.....mailman delivered it saturday....a South West broken right behind the joint....I dont think I will be practicing on that one...I will wait till I know exactly what im doing before I attempt anything with it

join date is irrelevant. Scanners offer make multiple user names so when one is exhausted the other is waiting. How many times has johnholmesparisblackwoodbarkcinnamonect...been banned. If it's too good to be true it usually is. Cover yo asssss!!!

Yes people have been banned. Make up new names.
BUT others also join the forums every day.

There is a chance that there are actually good new members!

WOW, I mean I understand to cover your ass, but also give some people the chance.

Remember one time, you were a newbie.
 
The mere fact that your here asking should be your answer, IMHO. Gotta go with the gut every time. References don't even cut it anymore...unless I know the person referencing. Doing business online anywhere is a tricky proposition anymore.

you can take the chances i will not. join date means abso nothing. same as rep. means nothing at all either. just bc your full of greenies and you can type on a forum for 2 years doesnt not mean you are trustworthy sorry. i look at itrader and also ask ppl youve done transactions with. i dont buy much on here. i mostly sell. i buy in person. yes i was new at one time. i had to learn the "azb way."this forum isnt what it was two years ago. every week you read someone ripped me off...ect. i still am very careful who i deal with. i would not paypal you 500$ now. i dont care what cue you were selling. dont take it personal. its not you. just how i do things. many other feel the same now
 
Tell him to give you some names of people on here that might know him personally and can vouch for him.
