Wouldn't it be easier just to post the ebay link? The seller pulled the auction earlier today...which seems to be the norm with cues on ebay these days. http://cgi.ebay.com/Willie-Hoppe-Cue-With-2-Shafts_W0QQitemZ7219129966

Uh, Because then he brings attention to a cue he obviously would like to win the bid on.

Uh lol good point. Sorry, just thought it was weird to answer a question with a question, all he needed was a dollar value. Ill mind my p's and q's now lol.

It was a rhetorical question. My guess is that a post like this means that someone talked an ebay seller into ending an auction early, and now wants to know if he got a good deal, prior to sending his money to the seller.

Oh I was just guessing he wanted the value of the cue and didnt want to share much else sorry. My fault I usually take things for what they are dont read into them too much or try analyze, thats what the wife is for.

That was a good guess.

well, here is one that sold on ebay recently, all original, great shape, case, good label, hoppe name like new, $559.00. how does this compare to yours?

I guess this is part of what's wrong with the buying public today. How does it compare??? You must be joking, Let me help ya, he doesn't have a label or the name and he doesn't have original shafts. Those 2 cues couldn't be further apart when talking about pricing the same cue? Can you put a price on the name?? How bout the label? I mean you may be abel to price the original shafts, but even still when you start to order classic cues alla' cart it get's a lil screwy. You might as well of posted a link to an old Meucci cue.

True, as a collectible it's value is history! (pun intended). But Guycrunch knows this too as he implied in his post.

I still think it's worth $300 - $350 if the handle is straight. These old fat Hoppe's make pretty good conversions. Someone would have to look at this one, however. The points look pretty far off for a decent conversion.

Someone looking for a Titlist conversion might buy it, sell the shafts for $75 - $100 each as 'replacement shafts', and have a decent cue maker convert it.

Chris - your numbers make sense. As far as the points being off, these 2-piece Hoppes are so fat that it doesn't matter - they are all too short to convert without adding to the handle, but they are also so fat that you can still take them down and expose the points all the way down to the splice if needed. The only concern would be that it had already been partially 'converted' - the faint 'Hoppe' and no decal, while still in great shape, make you wonder.

For instance, there was a "Rambow" ebony 2-piece on ebay not too long ago that went for over $700. Unfortunately, it was short - looked like a new joint might have been added long ago. Even so, it still could have made a nice ebony Titlist conversion by using more of the points below the wrap (the 'Rambow' designation ignored), except it also looked like someone had already cut it about an inch below the wrap, perhaps to add more handle to make up for wood taken off at the joint.

chris, you are correct, i was trying to bring out the fact that this cue's value as an "original" is low. and it would be more appealing to someone who wants to convert it and doesn't mind the low points. it's still a nice cue to own at the right price and i think your estimate is on target.

Thanks for the replies guys,i did see it on Ebay and was checking it out,i didnt see any bids on it but i did offer the guy a cash offer of $250 and i would meet up with him in Golden Cue in Albany.I was just wondering a price on what i should pay for it,he told me to bid on it and wouldnt take a cash offer but then pulled the auction,i emailed him and he said he was listing it for someone and they had a falling out.I have been looking for one of these for awhile to have to shoot with and if i dont like it then i shouldnt have a problem getting my cash back for it if i got it cheap enough. So i will continue to look and try to find a good deal on one of these,or perhaps a titlist conversion that isnt too high in price but they all seem to be,maybe i should just find a titlist and have Rubino do it,he is only 1/2 hour away and we see eachother from time to time.

Thats the best way to be,some people dont do these things and get there panties in a bunch for nothing, sometimes you just need to take things for face value, because thats all it is and not jump to conclusions.:)

As far as playing with them the way they are, they're terrible! Butt too fat and heavy, shaft too skinny. It feels like your shooting pool with a bowling pin in your hand.

If you want to play pool with it, for sure get a conversion if you are hot on Titlists (it was good enough for Balabushka!). Or look for an old Palmer with a Titlist butt, or an already converted cue. They play pretty good as is and appreciate in value. At the most you might need a custom shaft for it.

:p :D  Hey Tate, if one was looking for a conversion, but wanted one with more brown or dark veneers, is there a certain year to look for. I dont like blue veneers in many cues.

You can find Brunswicks in a variety of colors. My favorite is ebony with red. I have looked and looked, but they are hard to find and can be expensive when you do. The blue is the Titlist trademark. I too am looking for a nice ebony Brunswick.

The color combination with Blue actually started almost 100 years ago. Some model 265's had the same color combo as the Titlist

Here's a BBC that the seller erroneously calls a Titlist. I don't know the model # but 265 is as good as any. This cue is in great original shape, so thus the high price:
