first question...what customer do you prefer..
a. the one who keep playing with your cue and loyal to your work
b. the one who make a profit for your work... i mean buy it from you and sell it again for looking a profit
c. it's doesn't matter with you as long as you got a bussiness..

second question

does it matter with you...if somebody order a cue from you and make a promise that he will not sell it and will play with many many years...a loyal customer i mean....

Oh By the way...for Mr Eric Crisp... i send an email to you..if you not notice...i believe you seldom open your email :D

My favorite customer is the one who buys my cue. It's nice if he brags about how well it plays, but that 'buying' part is the real stand out feature of a good customer. Sure, I'd love for it to be the last cue he ever wants to own, but once it is his, it's his. He has the right to burn it if he wants to burn it. That would hurt my feelings, but he has that right. If he sells it for a profit, good for him. Maybe he'll buy a fancier cue from me.

I always prefer the customer keeps the cue. But I only want him to keep it if he is really happy with it. If not, he should sell it and find something he likes better. As far as someone selling my cues for a profit. That is fine, because the person buying it from them might be the one who keeps it and really likes it and tells everyone how good it plays. Someone making a profit reselling an item is what keeps out world's economy running, so that is fine with me.

LOL Oh I open it, buddy. It's just after the time away I came back to around 1300 legitimate emails & am still going through them. I answer roughly 10-15/day, and that generates that many more almost LOL I'll look for yours.

To answer the question, I prefer customers who are honest with me about their intentions. If they wanna keep the cue, great. If it's really not what they had hoped, then by all means sell & let somebody else get it. What really bothers me is the sad story why they need a cue, only to receive it & immediately resell for double.

Everyone want's to be loved, appreciated and admired, especially when it comes to your creative endeavors, so, I agree whole heartily with Chris. A pool cue is just a tool for playing pool. Everyone looks and more importantly, hits differently. If someone has me build them a cue and they love it and hold onto it I really feel good as it means that my interpretation of what they expected as far as both looks and feel were met in my creation.

If the customer either flips the cue for a profit or sells it because it never met their expectations is also completely alright with me. Should a customer wear a pair of shoes that hurt his feet just because they are custom made or they don't want to hurt the builders feelings? I think not!!! I have two customers who always have cues on order just because they can make a profit reselling at tournaments and such. Doesn't bother me in the least.

Hi,

Dick's pragmatic view is the correct one in my view after it's gone your on to making the next one.

It's nice if someone sells your cue for a good price to keep your after market value up.

By the way, it's great to see Dick back on the forum. I have missed his "to the point" comments based on his experience.
