Has anyone put a 4 jaw independent chuck on a deluxe? If so, how did you do it?

I assume you would have to use an adaptor plate, but I have been looking around on the net and cannot seem to find anything.

Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.

Taig sells one for the small headstock....but the big one would be kind of tricky.....but possible I think....I'll get back to you. I have one of the taig ones and I'll need to see if it can be bored without ruining it.....

I bored a Taig 4jaw chuck out to the 1-9/16 x 32 tpi .
But to do this you need to have a lathe capable of thread cutting and either a sample thread to test with or the spindle that it is to fit onto.A lot of work for a one off item.
It did break into one of the drilled holes in the back.
I bored it to 3/8 inch deep (9.5mm) and use a spacer ring to make up for the shallow
depth of the thread compared to the 3 and 4 jaw self centering chucks that have a longer thread depth.

Here is a pic of the 4jawI chuck I bored out.I made the ID 26mm.It can go out to 32mm if required.

Yes, It will fit the steady rest or the adapter plate for the ER40 lathe spindle I use.
The back face was trimmed back 2mm to the same spigot diameter of the chucks with the 1-9/16 thread.
