In gambling sessions and tournament play, do the sweaters and spectators get actively involved in cheering, sharking, etc., or do they stay respectfully quiet while players are shooting? If so, does this help or hurt the game?

For the most part they show respect for the game and the players. Actually they are good spectators over there, who enjoy watching good pool being played. That is not to say that there is no side betting on these matches. Often, there is more money on the side then in the middle. :smile:
Like any other audience they will react to good shots and bad ones as well. Sharking a player over there is rare and considered in bad taste. The only real attempt to shark a player was when Shane first traveled there. He was in a money game and while he was shooting (more than once) the other player's backer yelled across the room. What the backer didn't realize is that Shane never heard him. Shane won the match!
