...first hello to everybody from germany and thank you about the help and information
i already have gathered running up and down this forum the last three month!
Always had the dream just to walk down the stairs to play some pool.
Sounds simple but isn´t, I tend to dream to complicated and in colours.
(The table had to be a GC in rosewood/copper with 860HR powder blue)
Than I felt a bit lucky, I found one in more than decent condition in Luxemburg.
(First install, never moved, training table only, recovered twice)
Due to my now basic knowledge (and the informations of the Owner
)
i was able to inspect and identify eventually hidden problems.
And was more than happy that only two of them appeared:
- The “Apron Brackets” had never been mounted (no visible screw marks)
on the inside of the apron corners, in fact when inspected the angles where
slightly “open”. Over the time of 12 years the originals had disappeared
or left country for some longer holidays.
This had a quick fix, 4 “german” brackets are now proud to hold the apron angles thight!
- The other one (wich basically is the question I mentioned 10 inches above,
i hope this is a simple but not yet stupid one)
When disassembling the rails (for recovering, Superspeeds were OK!) I found
in each of the side pocket castings two different bolts, lengthwise and
“washer wise” (What a word
)
One regular with regular flat washer, one longer (1”) with a domed washer,
being designer myself this seemed “funny” to me but the exact repetition on
the other side made me thinking about a “good” reason about this.
When reassembling (by a “Pro” from Cologne with my “help”, getting RKC here by Lufthansa
was out of financial reach, the crisis you know) he assured me that he had never seen this before
and promptly we ran into a problem. We had to screw the insert further in
(where the longer Bolt with domed washer had to find his place).
This went out well, BUT my question is:
- is this correct or was this only a bolt messaround when first installed???
(you know, over here we love things done the right and only way
)
- if this is correct, whats the reason? Shock absorbing/sound/????
(over here, before doing things we love to figure out why or why not
using this or that technology, same as you
)
The table plays nevertheless very good and is
a real character, we named it EARL.

Have a nice weekend, i´m at least six hours ahead!
So you don´t have to rush with an info, i´ll be back in
front of my PC on monday morning only, six hours early!:frown:
Danke!
Freddy
