Question Here...about an ebay seller...?

No, he didn't put in the specifics that I'm asking for...he did say it was in excellent condition...I guess he is the gospel of "excellent condition", and that he "shall" not be questioned, even if the questions are of a more specific nature...the other questions that I've asked are not incorporated into his description.

He's a douche.

I've decided that I'll pass on it...no need to get involved with the douche.

Here's the link if someone else wants it...

I still think it's a good cue...but again, it's the principal of his ignorance and lack of reasonable communication.
I do hope he's not an AZer...but if he is an AZer, he's still a douche.

I would like to read the description for myself. What is the item? Questions asked are legit but you did ask a lot of ?'s. Age is not that important.(Unless it may be an unknown cue) Better and shorter ways ways to ask: Straight? Are the joint and butt cap ivory? Can you tell me the tip diameters? 3 questions instead of 11. If he bought it used, how would he know if it was ever sanded or what was done to it previously. He wouldnt unless he bought it from a friend. If I was the seller and someone bombarded me with 11 questions about the cue I would see nothing but problems with the sell if the person won it and would probably just choose to not respond at all. Too many questions. JMHO.

I dunno. I hate to be contrary, but to me the only relevant question was,
'is it straight". It looks like a beautiful stick. For the kind of $ were talking about it has no ivory. No ivory was mentioned. I doubt that I would not buy a stick if someone at sometime has sanded the shaft . Why do you care how long he owned it or when it was built? Did Frey have only a small window of time within which he built good cues?

Frankly, if I had a buck or 2 right now I'd jump on it. I'd love to have it as a shooter.

I'm on the sellers side on this. It seems like the O.P. was just trying to impress somebody with his cuestick knowledge.

( Actually, I love to be contrary)

I can understand...some people don't care what they buy...
If it's not IV?... ivory butt cap, who cares...
If the shafts been sanded on, who cares...
If it's finish is hacked up, who cares...
And I guess I should trust the seller for saying it's in excellent condition...when I don't have a clue who he is or anything about the cue.

I myself want to know what I'm paying for.

Yeah you have a perfect right to ask all the questions you feel are relevant when buying an item sight unseen. You asked, you didn't like the answer you got, you decided not to do business with the seller.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks

Kevin

The IV I assume, is Ivory and it's illegal to sell on ebay. If he won't answer your questions, it's a RED FLAG...he's probly hiding something. Don't bid and then start asking questions...Always get your questions answered BEFORE bidding. You did the right thing by pulling out. The sellers attitude screams problems. Don't be lured back in on it. Report him to ebay for non response and move on. Good Luck.

You can look at the sellers feedback, he sells a lot of pool cues. He should be somewhat familiar with cues. The seller also has a very good feedback rating, I would not be afraid to buy anything from him.

I stand corrected. He does say IV in reference to the butt cap. I might want him to clarify that . Of course he can't do it on ebay's message system because they would catch it. That's a problem and it might be why he cut you off. He may have had suspicions about your motives in asking the ivory questions.

The stick is at 314 bucks right now and is a deal without ivory.
When buying on ebay you have to take some chances on the subject of condition. He has 1700 transactions with 99.8 percent approval rating.
I don't think the guy deserves some of the comments made about him. I think your missing a good deal.

Also, there are very few shafts on shooters out there that have not been introduced to sandpaper at one time or another.

Alright...

I'm watching and bidding on a cue on ebay...(I've already bid)

I've sent a list of questions inquiring about the cue...
Here are my questions...

How old is it? Do you know what year it was built?
How long have you owned it?

Is it straight? Together and apart?

Condition? on a scale of 1-100...?
Nicks, Dents, Dings, Any finish issues?
Is the finish all original?

Are you sure that the butt cap is Ivory?

Is the joint ivory?

What condition is the shaft in...has it been sanded on, or is it in pretty much original condition?

The seller replies...

"too many questions, don't bid"

What do you think? I think he's a obviously an idiot.

But I've currently got the high bid...so obviously I'm an idiot, too.
Now I don't want to buy it and I'm hoping that someone out bids me...but at the same time I don't really want to pass it up. Dilemma!

Why are people such D!ck heads?
Without knowing what you are bidding on I have sold a few high end cues on ebay and it can be a hassle. My own I don't mind but I once sold an old Stroud cue for a friend. It was a joke I got like over a hundred emails, it was almost impossible to answer them and most were just stupid from people who would probably never bid anyway. You had already bid though so you should have gotten an answer since your questions were not really hard to answer. By the way, I got $3500.00 for the guy whose cue I agreed to list and he gave me $50.00 for my trouble plus the fees. Needless I never did that again it was like a full time job selling that cue.

A little thought in describing accurately?

Your questions were completely reasonable. I would ask the same things if it wasn't clear from the description. You made the right choice getting out. Chances are the cue will not be what you hope.

Exactly ^^^^^

I'm amazed at the brief, sloppy, vague descriptions often made on ebay cues. My pet peeve is how some sellers can be absolutely snotty and act insulted if you ask, "Is the shaft/butt straight?" "What condition is the finish?" Sellers are too often appalled that I would ask such outrageous questions.
"Excellent condition" means AVOID when it's obviously not. Immediately dump any idea of bidding if that's their attitude.

Life is too short to deal with a$$ holes, especially dishonest ones!

As far as ebay, I've learned that the less information the seller puts up, the more issues there seem to be with the cue.

My favorite, though, is when I ask a question and the seller answers the question AFTER the auction has ended .

OK, did you win the Bob Frey SP for $351 or not?

Either way, hope it works out for you.

No, Jigger...

I retracted my bid...and I didn't bid any further on it.

I'm wondering if an AZer picked it up.

Thanks for everyone's input on this...

...but now, back to searching for a cue with a 3/8-10 big pin...(I picked up a couple of shafts that I'm wanting to piece together)...If anyone has one feel free to PM me...I really like full-spliced butts!!!
