Question or 2 about ferrule materials

Hi guys,

A local cuemaker that I work with has asked me for some information about ferrule material.

How chalk resistant is the micarta that MasonH sells?
The chalk resistancy along with the weight and hit are the main worries we have.
I know Masons micarta is quite light and the (albeit subjective) is good.

Two other materials we are considering is Aegis2 and XTC.
I know the XTC is a bit softer and no good for jump-break cues but should
be good for players. Here the same question, how chalk resistant is it?

Mason's stuff is very resistant to chauk. Light and strong. I would use it on every cue, except some people can't get past the color. I have had to cut some off and replace them with Juma to sell the cue. Now I just use it when requested.

Never used the other two you asked about.

Thank you sir for the reply. Now I just need to get a hold of Mason to order some of it.

Aegis 2 is a chalk magnet. It plays well but will not stay clean, unless you clear coat it with something maybe. XTC is okay but Juma is better, and you can break with Juma.

Thank you sir, I had allready takes Aegis out of the equasion but put in Ivorine3 instead.
The Ivorine4 is just too heavy for me.

The cuemaker I work with has used Juma in the past but was not very happy with it.
So it looks like we will be ordering some Ivorine3 and XTC from Atlas to try out.

Schuler used Ivorine III once upon a time. It's solid stuff. I have yet to actually work with it myself though. I use Juma because it's relatively hard and finishes very well.
