I am looking at two cues. The first is a Runde and the second is a Scruggs.
What is your opinion regarding the investment potential? Do you prefer one over the other

for me personally i go with the scruggs! ive seen alot of runde's and they are great hitting cues but dont hold their value like a scruggs does...imho

Let me see if I can be of any help

Now that I have given it some thought, I do not know if I can help you. I have 7 Scruggs, 6 Joss West, 5 Tads, 4 (1968-72) Joss cues and no Runde cues. So not having any Runde cues I cant give a fair and balanced evaulation.

disqualification ?

I have no Runde or Scruggs , but had a Deano that I sold prior to the internet craze started by Mr. Dean C.. Guess I'm just clueless!:) ;)

Greg,
Go with the Scruggs. It's a no brainer. But keep in mind that Rhunde cues are awesome and hit great, specially if you like playing with Schon cues.

Runde and Scruggs are both very good playing cues. IMO, Scruggs offers better resale value.
Bite the bullet and buy both.
That way you have two great cues and guaranteed that at least one of them will hold their value. Every one I talked to lately seems to think that Scruggs will go up in value in the next few years....I know I'm holding on to mine.
