Questions for Matchroom Sports, Luke Riches on ABR this week.

There was a MC, probably 2 years ago, where the break rule is :
- small break box
- 9 ball on the spot
- no cut break
- players, in a gentleman agreement, will break hard
- no illegal break a.k.a the 3 points rule

The rule proves to be very effective in the sense the layouts after the break were usually tough and we had a bunch of exciting matches.

Why Mathroom stop using this break rule ?

In my opion, the 3 points rule is somehow unfair when the guy breaks hard, makes balls and still gets an illegal break. Matchroom should get rid of this rule and ask players to break hard.

Yes, the small break box was in 2013. In 2014, they went back to breaking from anywhere behind the line, but they stuck with having no illegal-break rule.

Why aren't there any vendors present at the event? Surely, it would be beneficial to all. Mosconi cup memorabilia would be a big hit as well. Just a thought.

oooohh! good one! i know this one!
THERE IS NOTHING. JUST A $15 PROGRAM TO GET SIGNED.

those Brits/Euros roll in there with their homemade & color-coordinated blue EUR tshits packed from 6000 mls away, while we've got NOTHING. and they get them signed. and then they sell them on Ebay.

here @ AZB, we've had 3 vendors offer to do USA tshirts @ cost - and nobody will get it together. JAM had an awesome idea of Ed Hardy-like design 2 yrs ago. NOTHING.

those Brits grab any/every thing they can lay their hands on (balls, chalk, etc) - get them signed, and then sell it on Ebay.

Maybe MatchRoom does do USA/EUR tshirts & sell them on their website? but i'd never know about it.

Well it seems like an easy fix. To not want their logo plastered on shirts and other items that could be worn the world over seems foolish. Not to mention that it would be nice, as a fan, to have a little souvenir from such a great event.

do ýa think...? :rolleyes::eek::eek::rolleyes:
i'm sorry - but you hit a sore spot w/ me. (and i know that Luke is reading these posts - if he's smart....)

1) we were front-row center in our AZB tshirts. NOT MOSCONI/MATCHROOM TSHIRTS. AZB. all 3 days....

2) in my furniture business, at every show, we have a margarita machine (it helps us sell!). we give out free margaritas, that we pour into FREE LOGO SIPPIE CUPS. (which we had @ Mosconi, cause i packed 20 to giveaway to promote my mfg)
we also give away FREE LOGO BAGS to put our catalogs in. (which we had @ Mosconi, cause i packed 20 to giveaway to promote my mfg)
and LOGO PENS.

they cost my mfg $0.20....

EVERYone @ my hotel front desks have them. valets. cleaning ladies. Brits....

WHAT A CONCEPT?!?!

(rant over - it's the stuff you get for free that counts :ignore:)

Universe Clothing make the Official Mosconi Cup shirts. Europe or USA style only $95.00 each. :D Doubt they sold many.

really? cause
1) we saw ZERO of them @ Mosconi Vegas
and
2) $95? :rotflmao1:
and
3) how do you know this info???? was it marketed herein for the US consumer...?

@ LUKE - do you think if you marketed Mosconi/MatchRoom/Sky more in the US, that you & your sponsors would have more "return" from us?

see that pink-thing b/w Dennis's legs...? that's my company's free LOGO bag. what you can't see, are 2 LOGO sippie-cups.
Dennis was laughing at it all!

I have a lot of questions - too bad you won't let me to the interview.

Ask some common sense questions cause that is their biggest struggle -- what are they gonna do if two or more players are tied for points in 3rd place?

Obviously We can't let anyone who asks to do the interviews even if you would probably do a better job than I will. :)
Good question on the off chance 2 people tie for 3rd place. I didn't think of that but Hopefully we will get an answer,

You are doing a good job. Keep it up. If it is not BB I know none of the interviewees can out talk you and try to control the narrative of the interview :D
I like your "Columbo" style of interviewing- lead the interviewee on and then out of nowhere throw a curved ball to throw them off guard ( like what you did in recent interview with WPA official)

Mosconi Cup

Is there any chance that Luke can tell the commentators that it is OK to spread their bias around a bit?

It seems that if a European player shoots a similar shot as an American player, the commentators says as the cue ball comes close to scratching but doesn't, "WHAT A FINE SHOT!". When the American player makes the same shot, the commentators say, "OH MY GOODNESS, HE ALMOST SCRATCHED" or something similar.

Let the commentators know that they will still be invited back to Matchroom Sport events even if they show a little love to the American Players......:)

P.S. Thanks for getting the Mosconi Cup viewing to America.

Could you please ask about showing the MC live on TV in the US. ESPN, Fox Sports FS1, or Fox regionals etc would all be great.Versus which is now NBC Sports was going to distribute the IPT live at one time, There are also many other channels not exactly sports which could show pool live such as True TV, Spike, even CMT and many more, all would be potential outlets.

If it is a money thing please talk about some of those details so we understand how pool is perceived in the US at the distribution level of channels and advertisers.

Elvi thinks the USA needs the Mosconi Cup "Live"

Add me to the list of asking for them to add Canada to the mix.
Maybe mix in 8 ball or 10 ball on different days not just 9 ball
And in Vegas maybe a bigger arena so you can fit more fans in.
And as said more stuff for sale at the event

Are any USA players banned?

It was said recently that last year Matchroom told Mark Wilson he could not pick certain players.

How will we be able to watch the matches in the USA? (E.g. Espn3?)

They were probably talking about Rodney and Hatch I heard there were questionable actions in 2013 with wagering. I think they figured out a way to cash in on failure..

That was the year of the American Dream team I think we only won 2 points so it was more of a nightmare Archer,, Strickland, SVB, Morris and Hatch, Buddy Hall was a guest coach or something. Probably the team with the worst interaction I have seen. Bad chemistry so I hope that team is not re-used anytime soon.

WHEN is it?
WHERE is it?
WHO will be in it?

and more importantly - will MICHAELA be reffing...?
if not, will Lee Brett?

(it would be helpful if people had this info more than 30 days advance, to decide if & where they want to make reservations.)
