Hi.

I went to play table-tennis or ping-pong 2 days ago.
It's more of a physical sport than you imagine. I played for 1.5 hours, sweating all this time. I am in pretty good form but haven't played sports for quite some time. I do ride bicyle every day at least 5 miles tho. And my work is pretty physical too.

Anyway, I work at a luxury hotel. Night shifts quite often. 2-3 times a week I have to set up confrence rooms, move A LOT of furniture etc.

I was going to be late for work, so I didn't have time to strech after table-tennis. Had to move furniture that night too.

SO... We have got a pool table too at work, and I tried playing some pool a few hours ago, and when I aimed at a ball, the cue felt like it was 30lbs... Coudn't play at all.

I've got a snooker tournament in a few hours.

Anything I can do? I really want to play, but can't imagine how, my right arm is demolished. :(

Well, I read your account like you were talking fast and out of breath, so you might try at your own risk of course...take 4 shots of tequila and get some sleep.

Change your mindset. The cue ball doesn't weigh nearly anything compared to you. You don't need to hit it hard. Let your grip hand pull the cue back, then just release it and "allow" it to go through the cue ball. Play with a very light touch.

Good luck!

I agree with SloMo, here, except instead of changing your mindset you change your mind.
There ought to be a couple of places there in Vegas that would change out a brain for a few hundred bucks.

You are toast.....only time will make your arm feel better.
I was in dead stroke once for about three weeks....
....then I chopped a whole bunch of firewood.....
...couldn't make a ball the next few days.

ICE IT NOW >>> you must reduce the inflammation in the affected areas.... put some ice on it for 20-30 minutes, and take 2 Aleve. And prior to your tournament, warm up... do a few push ups, a couple of jumping jacks, and then stretch your arm a little.... This should pull you through :)

If you can, get a message with special attention to your shooting arm.

Take hot baths & let the water run on your shooting arm.

Take two Advil.

Good Luck,

It might help reign in your stroke and make you play a more deliberate game. I had one of my best matches after a rotator cuff injury that severely limited my movement.

Its from all that ping pong

Its from all that ping pong. Your arm is tight try playing with the other arm . Hot shower on that arm and shoulder will help. Sometimes it takes a day or two for the over exertion to show up.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I ended up taking a short nap, getting something to eat, and went to the snooker-hall.

I had like 30 minutes to warm up, hit a lot of balls like 1/2 softer than I wanted to.

Decided that I should drink a couple of beers. That helped. My arm was back to normal by the time for semi-final. Lost, tho :( But nothing to be ashamed of, it was against the best player in the town, probably one of the best in our country. He makes 50+ breaks almost every tournament. Made 75 yesterday.

It's always a good idea to take a "power nap" before an important get-together.

You don't have to actually doze off - just relax with eyes closed and listen to the background noises. 10-15 minutes works wonders on your alertness level.
