well i must be unlucky...i have 3 days worth and cant play any file so far with any software.....and all files are over 2 gigs of recording each

If VLC Media Player can't play it, there is something wrong with the files (because VLC can play files using its own built in video decoders, even assuming you have not installed any video decoders for Windows Media Player)
OK. This is fairly involved, but here's one way do it.
I can't promise the audio will stay in sync - that's just the nature of this particular beast.
1. Download mplayer for windows here:
http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32/MPlayer-mingw32-1.0rc1.zip
2. Unzip the download
3. click Start -> Run -> type "cmd" in the box
4. Navigate to the unzipped folder - type "cd c:\path\to\unzipped\folder"
5. Encode the file into an avi (type "mencoder -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128 -xvidencopts fixed_quant=4 -ofps 23.976 -o movie.avi c:\path\to\file.asf"
6. This will take a while, so go have a snack or shoot some pool.
7. When it's done, you can edit the resultant file, (movie.avi), with VirtualDubMod:

8. To trim the end, drag the slider, (right/left arrow keys step through frame by frame, or hold down for playback), to the start of what you want to cut out. Click the "Mark In" button below the slider (looks like a black left-pointing half arrow). Drag the slider to the end of the file and click the "Mark Out" button (right half arrow). Under the "Edit" menu choose "Delete" (this deletes the section that you've marked). Under the Video menu select "Direct Stream Copy". Under the "File" menu, choose "Save As...", choose a filename, "as type " should be avi, Video mode: direct stream copy and compression: no recompression.
Hope that helps whoever wants to edit, (or make more playable), these files.

Poor Neils. He was not even able to break.
This is a little late, but for anyone who might need to trim a clip in the future, you can download a copy of Quicktime from Apple. It allows you to edit, cut and trim your clips. Even though it's Apple it does work with windows media WMP files as well as other types.
