quick rules question

My buddy and I just began playing this more regularly for fun. We know most of the rules but we weren't sure what happens in these situation.

1. He called lets say the 5 ball in the corner. While pocketing the 5 ball in said corner the cue ball hit another ball and pocketed that. Does he get 2 points and keep going or does that other ball spot and end his inning ?

2. Buddy again was going for a very thin cut shot and totally missed the ball. In 9-ball obviously that's a foul with ball in hand. How would something like this play out in 14.1 ?

Question 1 - he gets points for both balls and keeps on shooting

Question 2 - if he contacts a ball and then a rail with either CB or OB then there is no foul regardless if he doesnt hit the ball that he was shooting.

Here are the official rules. If you are just starting, I think you will find a lot of rules you don't know about yet, and if you reread them in a couple of months, you will see how some of the rules that don't make much sense on first reading fit in.
