I'M WONDERING IF ANYBODY CAN GIVE ME ANY INFO ABOUT THIS CUE, OR IT'S MAKER. IT IS SIGNED R.T. 97 ON THE FOREARM, I WAS TOLD THEY ARE FROM FLORIDA. ONE OF OUR RESIDENT CUEMAKERS HERE GAVE ME SOME GOOD INFO, BUT I WONDERED IF ANYONE ELSE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE OF THE PPOINTS. CHECK OUT HOW THEY GO ALL THE WAY INTO THE JOINT COLLAR. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I believe the guy's name is Tom Hay. Out in the Vegas area. I found these pics. I don't know much about his work, but once in a while you see one for sale. Good Luck!

I may be mistaken, but i thought the cues were make in New York. I know i had a website for r/t custom cues on my old(not working) computer.

A search turned up the name, but no links to a website.

Rt

When I lived in South Florida in the 90's there were quite a few RT cues owned and seemed popular. I heard they (R and T were two people I believe) started selling all their cues overseas. Maybe someone from South Florida can add some detail.
Then again my memory can be dyslexic and I may be thinking of different initials.

MURRAY THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

Tom Hay and his friend Rich ? were partners in that business. They are no longer making cues, but are still in Florida. He quit making cues to pursue his commercial roofing business and last I hear he was into pick up truck bed liners. There is definitely more money to be made in other fields than in making cues. They quit for a few years and then they started back up for a several months in 2004 and then lost interest again and sold all their equipment. That is about all I know except they are great guys and bought a lot of stuff from me while they were going.

R/T is the first name of two friends, and partners that made those cues. The "R" is Rich Ruthven, and the "T" is Tom Hay. I knew both of them well, and when they where building cues I helped them by answering any questions. and in some cases I would show them first hand, anytime they had trouble while learning. Their shop was only fifteen minutes from my old shop. Their shop was located in a wharehouse that was used for a company called JetMax owned by Tom Hay in Pompano Beach Florida. The Jetmax company had to fold up around 2000-1 and took R/T cues with it. I believe they built cues for about five years.
Both guys are good hearted. I haven't seen Tom in a long while, and Rich I still talk to often.
I hope this helps.

Chris/dennis,
Thanks For All That Information I Really Appreciate It. At Least I Know Something About The Makers Of This Cue.

Now That I Know Who Made It, Does Anybody Know What This Would Have Cost From Them(ballpark Guess Would Be Fine) Just Curious, I'm Letting My Girl Use It As Her Playing Cue And She Seems To Like The Cue So Far.

RT cues

Nice to see my friend Rich Ruthven get some air time here on AZ. He and Tom made some great cues. I have Purple heart jump cue made by Rich. It is a neat and differst cue. Always atracts attention. He also pt some ivory ferules on a few of my cues. Sweet work. Richie is an awsome pool player also. We had some great times in Vegas at the BCA, I miss the Florida days. If anyone sees Rich tel Him PAt OBRIEN says Hi.
