Yeah, you're right. What the hell were Dennis Orcullo, Darren Appleton, and myself thinking? For sure they should have gone for the one in a hundred run out. That's why those idiots can't play, they keep making really dumb choices like that. That's ok though, straightline is here to school us up with the correct "go for every run out" pool strategy. His lessons today were brought to you by the letters A, P, & A, and the number 3.

For instance:
The 9 has multiple pockets.
The 11, 14 combo goes.
The remaining two stripes have at least one pocket as is.
The 12 in the side and the 15 in the corner.
So calling the ball by the 3 the 13, shoot it down corner. Since you have ball in hand you can reliably land on the 6 and be in position for the 11,14 combo.
From there the 11 moves out into the middle of the table.
The cue ball is stopped looking at the 9, 12, and 11. The only remaining work is getting on the short side of the 15.
And yes. Players absolutely need to be this competent; Beyond this competent...

If there’s enough room behind that 13 it’s still tough with BIH.
Then you have a fairly tough combination down the rail. You have to hit it firm for that 11 to come out. Cue ball maybe scratches off the 2 in the side, maybe gets hemmed up.
Then you’ve still got a real tricky 15. It’s just not a good layout to try running or Darren wouldn’t have given up the bih off the bat.

Typical jock. I'm not a player but players who can successfully attack the scoreboard will be the ones winning. Besides the subject was this particular out and to a greater degree why pool is so dull.
Appleton shot the 10 in. That leaves the 12, 13, and 15 which are difficult to distinguish.
It's by no means gravy for sure. Still, two champions proving their status defaults to the dog in the hearts of men.
