I had a little bit of time to play around with the Rack-a-shot yesterday. It's a neat device that will help you set up certain shots and you can learn about aim lines and tangents if you pay attention. Maybe I have tough time getting oriented, but I was always flipping the book and/or rack upside down to try to figure out which holes were which. Maybe you could put numbers on the template to ID the holes? Unfortunately I couldn't get a video in because there was some extracurricular stuff going on in the room where I was shooting, but hopefully I can try again by the weekend.
These are good comments. Let us see what others think about the numbering system. The reason there are no numbers is that in the critical thinking learning process we want to constantly be required to check and recheck all avenues of approach and from every informational gathering place. In other words, each shot requires a systematic approach that comes from on and off of the table. The need to look in the book at all of the information about the shot and seeing the parabolic instruction that leads from one shot to another is part of the learning and gathering process. The holes not being numbered requires that you constantly refer to the book as you might to your opponent for information in game play.I agree with 1Hit...It would really help to number the template. I made small numbered tags and stuck them on my template.
If the consensus is to number the holes, then we will definitely consider it. However, my thinking is that going through the difficult critical thinking process that brings you to a successful end with more rapidity, will enhance your abilities to see the game on and off of the table.
Thanks again.
