Nice photo, corvette.

I've seen a couple of guys who knew how to slug the rack pretty good. Dennis Hatch would run his hands through his hair, which was filled with gel or mousse or whatever, and that would kill the rack pretty good. I've seen David G and Ismael Paez play and Paez slugged it pretty good, too. During the match, Paez was eating fried chicken, he was rubbing the grease from the chicken on the rack. They got in an argument about it too, it was pretty funny. Morro's stakehorse, this guy named Chicago, was pretty offended by David G's accusation, saying "My guy's a professional, he doesn't need to give bad racks."

when given the chance is there any other to rack the balls?, i awalys give slug racks, actually i'm pretty good at it, i need all the help i can get. ;)

I don't know about the rest of those guys but couldn't ya just le Danny Jones RIP? ;)
You do know Danny is gone, right?
And NY Blackie? He's older than dirt.

What about our own Ricky P?
He might ought to be at the top of the list.

hahaha thats a good list I play at hard times in so cal and i have heard so many stories about morro and king kong. I gambled with king kong and all my racks spreaded well and I was consistently making balls on the break. But I have heard more complaints about Morro thats why when people play him in a tournament they always opt to rack thier own.

Wow - great post! This is a trip down memory lane!

2 great Roadies during the '80s - Jerry Bento and Eugene Browning - taught me all about racking. Volumes could be written.

Are they tight? SURE! Snug? SURE? Wanna examine? NO PROBLEM!

Does the 9-ball move? NOPE! :p

Sometimes the best "slug" is a super tight rack. I will guarantee that I can rack them tighter with a good wood triangle and my hands than with any Sardo rack.

One more little slug secret. Everyone always inspects the front six balls. Did you know you can get seriously slugged on the back three balls? But please don't tell anyone.

Ronnie Allen vs Morro

About 20 years ago at the Disneyland Tournament, Ronnie complained to the referee that Morro's rack was bad. The ref quickly inspected the rack and said, "The first three balls are touching. Good rack. Break 'em". Ronnie was noticably miffed but broke the rack. On the next game, when Ronnie had to rack, he placed the first three balls at the foot spot and pulled the other six balls back to the foot rail. Then he sat down and waited for Morro to break. The spectators were cracking up!!
