Radial pins better???

is there an advatage to haveing a radial pin in a cue versus a different type of pin? I've read that the quick release joints are no better or worse that a full thread joint, so why are the cues I see with a radial pin consistantly higher priced? thanks.

some people just prefer specific joints. people argue that wood to wood joints provide more feel than ss joints.

for now wood to wood (3/8-10, radial and variations) are more popular. i think that's what accounts for the price difference.

I think that you see genuine Radial pins in the better cues. It is just one example of using the best material so it is not the Radial pin that drives up the cost of the cue it is the whole package.

I already know that there are many fine cues that do not use the Radial pin for various reasons. I prefer the Radial pin in my cues because they are extremely accurate and the threads are highly polished so as to NOT damage the threads in the shaft.

some feel that more contact area of the bigger pins create a more solid feel like a 1 piece cue. some believe it some dont. also the flat faced wood to wood for better "feel"

as stated before in some other threads if you had 3 cues same specs with piloted 14, radial, and 3x8-10 and did a test on players. they prob couldnt pick out each pin accurately. all prefrence. quailty wood and construction have more to do then pin size IMO
