Rail recalibration.

Ok guys, let's have a better week than last. Let's get out there and set up some pool tables, grow the industry, make some customers happy and what the hell, re-calibrate some rails if you feel like it. Let's avoid bashing each other on the forums. And let's all do our best jobs we can given the experience and tooling we have now.

Now that everyone seems happy, are you going to come up and recover my table Josh? I talked to Rob and it sounds like he might not be able to make it. If Josh cant get up here can anyone of you guys steer me toward someone who will do a professional job recovering my table? I am about 1/2 hour north of Milwaukee. There has to be someone from the Chicago area, I know I will have to cover someones drive time, I'm OK with that.Thank you!!

LOL I'd love to. I don't have anything else coming up that direction yet, so the mileage will be there. It'd be a few weeks before I could head that way at least though. We'll keep in touch.

Jerimy can't help you?

PS. I would have played you 9 ball. Anyways, I got to Romines to late for the 9 ball tournament so I ended up in some 1P action.

Jeremy Chambers? I did not see him in the mechanic directory. I have heard him spoken about frequently on these forums. He would do a nice job? I apologize in advance for ignorance.

That's him. He's in Chicago. I've heard his quality work is similar to Mark and Glen.

Thank you much Mark!!!!

Jerimy is a master table mechanic, he came down to central il on the 4th of july to put together my GC4. Told him he didnt have to but he wanted to get it done. Super nice guy and hard worker, bought the table from Mark Gregory and had the pockets cut down to 4 1/4. Both these guys are stand up guys, plus Steve Lomax for steering me in Marks direction and explaining to me about rails and different tables. Thanks again guys. Dave Slayback

rails superspeed

I have a GC 1. Had 860 and super speed installed. The cushions play very
stiff. They bank long and on 3 rail kicks they are off by at least a diamond.
The work was done by a well respected mechanic in the baltimore area. He took the rails to his shop and was supposed to do what was necessary.
Any thoughts.

Fresh cloth has a much lower coefficient of friction than worn cloth. Couple that with a clean set of balls, and the coefficient of friction is even lower. The balls will tend to slide across the cloth, rather than roll. When banking, the balls will have a tendency to slide away from the cushion, and bank long.

Do you think this is what you may be experiencing? It'll take a little bit of time for that cloth to break in, before you will have a better idea of how 'true' your table really banks.
