Hey guys... I'm probably going to be making the move to Raleigh pretty soon but I'm not very faliliar with the area in terms of places to play pool and what players live there. Anyone know of any decent places to play that might have some Diamond Smart Tables by chance? Thanks in advance for any help :)

In Raleigh a few weeks ago theres a new place on hwy 55 ext 278 off 40 called On the snap (I think). All new diamonds blue cloth TV balls just like US open. Place was great.

Babineau's in Cary, Play-to-win billiards, Brass Tap, Brown's Billiards are 4 of my favorites...but I don't think any of them have Diamond Smart Tables...it's Gold Crown Heaven up there.

Place to Play

Babineau's Billiards 1102 Buck Jones Raleigh. Take Crossroads exit and look for Buck Jones RD. We are on the left next to Rey's restaurant in front of Bullwinkles. Cold Crown iv big leagues, tourneys weekly, all ABC permits. Stop by and see us.

Babineau's Billiards 467-5411

Thanks,

Paul Babineau

The Brass Tap is the best hands down. Tony and Peewee have a great Thursday night handicapped tourney every week! I sure do miss that! They also have about four weekend long events every year that almost always sell out, full field and some of the best players in NC. Great people, good prices, well maintained equipment, clean restrooms you can't ask for more..

I've been down to a couple of these and would like to go back, but I don't see postings here for them. Can you please put up some notice when you hear something?:)

There's one starting on Friday the 9th. $65 to get in to the tourney, $10 for the break contest. This is a handicapped tournament.

I get to Raleigh about 3-4 each year, just spent last week there actually. IMO, you can't go wrong at Babineau's. Nice tables (Gold Crowns with Simonis), friendly staff, reasonable rates, full bar, decent food. It does get crowded with league play during the week.

I've also been to The Green Room in Durham. It's a throwback type room with about 10 old Brunswick tables. The place is very old looking, with two rows of stadium seats against the wall and a shuffleboard in the middle of the room. But looks are deceiving. The recently recovered (Simonis) tables played absolutely perfect, if not a little loose due to the large pockets. They do have one newer table that is set up a little tighter. Staff is also friendly, serves beer, not sure about food.

Last week I checked out Jump Shot, also in Durham. Kind of dingy, not sure what the tables are but they are covered in Simonis and played fine. There was a poker/blackjack tournament going on in the back, it's a weekly thing. Staff was friendly enough. Didn't notice if they had a full bar, but beer for sure.
