Ralph Greenleaf Highlight Reel

I think that was Buster Keaton who took that last shot and hit himself on the head with the stick lol...

that's awesome footage, great find! whats up with the six lights over the pool table? i guess they didnt have an 100w bulbs then...

I lived in his hometown of Monmouth, IL for 17 years, and still play in the pool league there.

He was buried in an unmarked grave until the league raised enough money to buy him a nice headstone.

Now there is a nice sign in front of the building where he learned to play pool at his father's pool room on the 2nd floor. The pool room is long gone.

That's a great video, I used to own that video on tape but it was a little longer and it had a world championship match between Greenleaf and I think either Rudolph or Taberski, and all it shows is Greenleaf running the last 7 balls of a 125 and out. what struck me is how totally relaxed and confident Greenleaf looked, like he knew he could do no wrong, you don't see that with todays champions, everyone plays tense and tight now.

An old timer who saw Greenleaf in his prime told me that if you went to a tournament back then and you saw all the players playing and if you didn't know what Greenleaf looked like, you'd know who he was immediately just by his aura, he had a presence at the table like he owned it.

after watching Willie's exhibitions from his later days, I can see where he got a number of his shots....Thanks for the link!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it also glad to know I am not the only one who appreciates the vintage videos
