Well... his legacy is and he left a lot of money behind. Check out the last second bidding on this auction. My programmed bid was kicked back at $2800. When I put it in, the bidding was only $1400. I thought $2,800 might be enough - but no way.

What an awesome collectible Rambow. What a great cue. Makes me sick I didn't get it. The winner probably had an even higher limit. Damn.

Made from what looks like and ebony Titlist or precursor. The ebony shaft sections look cool but have the added squirt effect going! Chris, don't despair... I'm confident you'll find a sweet Rambow eventually!

WOW!!!
I thought I was safe at $2,955.59 didn't think it would go past $3,000.00 boy was I wrong!! It sure had all the qualities of the diamond in the ruff. This is one lucky guy that found that cue at an estate sale. I'm really surprised the family selling this kind of item had no clue that the cue is a valued collectable pool cue. I think the winner was willing to spend $3,500 or more for it. Too much for a cue that will seldom ever hit another ball on a table. Oh well. Looked like it had the original leather wrap on it, plus customer's name on the forearm and initials on both shafts, couldn't tell if the butt plate was ivory though. Tate, we got beat out badly!!!

Well, you can add me to the list - $2,400 with a non-registering snipe. I thought I might get it until the snipes started pouring in. I agree John - it's tough to pay that much for a cue that is purely a collectible. I would guess the buttcap is NOT ivory. Also, how likely is it that the shafts were ebony? In one of the photos it looked like they might be rosewood, but I couldn't find any information on wood used in spliced shafts.

It's not ebony, but if you really want a nice Rambow you should consider the one that was on ebay recently with a $7K opener - it's just a hair less fancy than the Rambow in the "Blue Book" and has both great provenance and Rambow's signature.
