So I find myself peeking more and more often into the 14.1 forum to see what's new and how people on here are playing and progressing. I read interesting topics and try to pick up any information that I can. And finally, I think some of it has paid off.
I've been playing a bit more straight pool than I used to in preparation for the NCS tournament in the area. So I'll play for an hour or so at the beginning of my practice sessions. Tonight, I was helping refinish a table, so I was pulling staples out of the wood. My hand almost blistered from the constant rubbing against the screwdriver.
Anyway, I finish up my work and get a rack. Make a small run of 6 or so balls before I botch my first shot. Then I finish out that rack, breakshot, finish out that rack, breakshot, and get to the breakshot of the third full rack and jaw it. But what I realized is that I was using a lot of concepts that are 14.1-specific, like identifying balls in categories (a la George Fels) as far as break balls, secondary break balls, balls on the rail, whatnot. My runs were fairly well planned, and I think I was out of line really only once during the run, or majorly out of line anyway.
:grin-square: Can't wait to see what I can run after I get a little better!
