Randell Frey Tulipwood Cue

To all of my AZbilliard buddys,

I have just listed a Killer cue and a stupid low price. It is a Randell Frey cue that I picked up cheap and just want to turn. It is like new and plays great. It is tulipwood. It is different. For what I am going to sell it for, it would make a great cue. It comes with only one shaft, but otherwise I think it is 400+ cue.

Look and see.

Regards
Ken

Shorty,

I found this exerpt amazingly in an Air Force newsletter:

“It is the benefit of my misplaced
youth,” admits Ty Richards, describing
his skill in pool while gingerly
clutching a custom pool cue that his
uncle Randall Fry had made. “It was a
Christmas present from my wife
Malisha who bought it from my Uncle
Randy. My uncle made custom pool
cues for about ten years in my home
town of Nixa, Missouri,” explained
Richards.

That's about all I can find on him. Hope you like your new cue, you'll have to give us a report on it!!

Jim

when you get this plain cue, I'll give you my stacey for it if it hits good. I know we didn't come to a deal yet, but I'm trying to make it fair for the both of us.

Hi Shorty,

I almost tried to outbid you on this cue, but decided to let you try it out. There is a blurb about the cuemaker on rec.sport.billiards perhaps you can locate it. JAM posted an article about the cuemaker. I sorry I did not save the link.

However this is what I do know....

Actual name is Randall (Randy) Fry (not Frey). I supposedly got some cuemaking advice from Bludworth (you could ask him) as well as Richard Black. Anyway, hope this helps.

Regards,

Doug

Hey guys,
the name rang a big bell with me, but you're right - almost nothing if you Goggle him. Sooo, I got out some of my old issues of "The Snap" (anybody else still got theirs?) and VOILA! A FULL-PAGE ad from Randall Fry, Cuemaker.
It's in the June/July, 1990 issue. It goes on to say that Randall Fry is associated with Champs Billiards Products, The Academy of Billiards, and the BCA. At the time, his shop was in Frisco, TX, and his shop was "Equipped by Leonard Bludworth."

I'll be happy to scan the page and post it if ya like...

Shorty,

If you wouldn't mind posting a pic that would be great. I can't access EBay from work but I love a nice tulipwood.

aren't wives all the same? if they want something, they go get it. ask them to get you something, and it's like taking blood from them. (mine anyways)

I have held this cue in my hand and can tell you that the pictures dont do it justice.

I think you will be very happy with it Shorty :)

I am the guy

I have sold the cue to Shorty;

I looked in my file that I had and it is true the name is FRY not FREY.

Here is what I have:

Randall Fry
Handcrafted Cues

Tom Casper
3767 E. Ebony Place
Springfield, MO 65809
(417) 832-0959

Dont know anymore than that. I lived in Springfield, MO for about 13 years and had cues built by Andy Gilbert (still best cue for the dollar). Randall was from there too. If he has moved that would be news to me. Shorty got a bargin.

Getting the money order as we speak Ken..sorry for the delay..just been one thing after another. I had to put my van in the shop and my kid just finished up summer school. Again, thanks for your patience.

Shorty

That's a nice looking cue, Looks like you may have got a real bargain there Shorty. You would spend that much for a decent production cue, and don't you will find many of those in that wood selection. Tulip is sort of harder to come by also. I could not make one for that price. I do like the looks of that wood. It also looks good in ringwork & inlay as well. I have never shot with one made from solid tulip, so have no idea of the feel. Please let me know how it feels when you get to hit with it.

I noticed the difference in spelling as well. The billiardcue pic also spells the name "Randall Fry" not "Randell Frey"

You got a bargain for sure if it was only an error in spelling. In any case, its still a great buy for the price. ;)
