1. most expensive cue you ever shot with?
A Richard Black that he had priced a little over $100,000 as I recall. It was all ivory and mother of pearl. It was at a trade show. My standard playing cue, a Balabushka, would probably sell for $15-25,000 if I wanted to sell it. I paid $175 for it.
2. most money you ever lost to a single player in a single session?
More than I could really afford to use. I don't do that any more.
3. how long have you been playing?
Since 1963.
4. first cue you owned?
A made-for-me Zimmerman with an ivory joint and butt plate, leather wrap and two shafts. BEM. I went over to his shop and discussed the cue with him before he started on it. $65.
5. ever hit someone else with the cue ball off the break? how'd that turn out?
No.
6. curly or BEM?
Either is fine by me. I think points are pointless, though.
7. ever broken you cue out of anger?
Not exactly.
8. type of tip you use?
Triangle right now. Mooris did not work well for me.
9. linen, leather or no wrap?
Rubber currently.
10. most exciting pro match you've seen?
Too many memorable ones to pick just one. Lassiter against Mizerak in the 1969 Open -- Rico against Ceulemans in the 1984 World Championships -- Davis against Reyes in the 2000 World Championships.

wow! i knew some of you guys existed, but i didn't think anybody did it. a balabushka for a playing cue:eek: ? i envy you. i'm guessing the stick hits great since you've been using it for 40+ years.

I got it in 1972. I've also played with a lot of other sticks including Schuler, Schrager, Rich, Mali (custom, not production), and two kinds of Predators, but I keep coming back to the Balabushka.

1. most expensive cue you ever shot with?
$3000 BMC

2. most money you ever lost to a single player in a single session?
$50

3. how long have you been playing?]
10 years

4. first cue you owned?
$20 Spalding from Big 5 Sporting Goods...actually played fairly good once the tip was replaced.

5. ever hit someone else with the cue ball off the break? how'd that turn out? Yeah. Guy would stand next to the table on all shots. So one break he stood right to the left side of the rack and I purposefully sent it off the rack and tagged him in the nards. He learned after that.

6. curly or BEM?
Depends on the part of cue. Curly in points, BEM on the forearm

7. ever broken you cue out of anger?
Never have and never will. Only thing I have done is put a 1/8" gouge in the shaft from swinging it parallel to the table at a piece of chalk. Hit it square on the edge of the chalk without the cue hitting the table and the chalk flew 30'. Took me forever to expand the wood enough to make it smooth.

8. type of tip you use?
Moori

Have linen...prefer none.

10. most exciting pro match you've seen?
None.

8. type of tip you use? Layered Tiger
9. linen, leather or no wrap? Wood, stacked leather, stamped leather, linen.
10. most exciting pro match you've seen? Exciting? Banks game between Brian Gregg and Shannon Daulton, Most amazing? Half the matches Efren ever plays. Most Fun? Jose Parica vs Landon Shuffet.

Jose came to the table and told Landon he had to leave because he had a match there. Landon said he was his opponent. On the second game I think Landon ran out from the 2 ball. The change in Jose's facial expression from playing around to deadly serious was absolutely priceless. Jose won, but Landon won a lot of fans that morning in Derby City. I think Jose won 9-4 or 9-5. Will never forget that.
