Rare or in short supply materials, which one would you want?

I just passed up 6 fifty yard spools of antique Cuttyhunk No.9, 27 pound test natural linen, $46 total for the six spools.

Should I have grabbed that?

NOTE: I didn't start this thread because I am looking for such materials but I do keep my eye out for linen. I just thought there might be some interesting comments since I see scattered comments about such materials.

.

Go back and get it! I'll even buy some off of you! NOW!

LOL!

It's already gone.

I was seriously considering it, but I didn't know if it was the "right stuff".

I look for linen mostly because if I score some I will keep it for my JOSS if I have it refinished someday. If I had extra I definitely would sell it to one of you guys for the best price I could, in other words I wouldn't try to maximize profit off of cue makers. That's just not why I am here. I would probably sell it for what I got it for unless I made a real serious score like a big spool of Cortland for cheap, then obviously I would try to make something off of it. I am very supportive of the efforts of the cue makers.

I keep my eyes open for a new brown KU bumper for my JOSS to, mine is a little marked up but functional, not cracked or crumbling. If I refinished I would want the new bumper too of course.

I figure if I have the materials I don't have to worry if the cue maker does.

What would a spool of that stuff be worth? Just in case I come by some again.

If I am correct, a 50 yard spool will wrap one cue. And I believe Cuttyhunk and Cortland linens are going for around ~$100 per cue length.

So...yeah, buy it when you find it.
