I didn't know this till I read the Match Room/Rasson deal, this will definitely make the Mosconi Cup interesting.
If this has been mentioned before, oops.

These are small holes, especially when the cloth gets broken in, allot of hangars and pocket doublers. :)

Do they plan to have more balls falling jn then bouncing out? If it happens to a cue ball is it a foul?

After a OB ball is pocketed, Cue ball falls into pocket, then pops out, what is the proper ruling? Scratch or continue run?

Problem is the MC doesn't last long enuff for them to break in.

For such short races for these players, it’s about time they played the MC on 4-inch pockets. However, it will give the best players (the Euros) even more of an advantage.

I would really like to know the corner pocket facing angles on these 4-inch pockets? If it’s 142-143 degrees they’ll play extremely tight even on new cloth. If it’s more like 139-140 degrees, on newly installed cloth they’ll play considerably more forgiving.

Hopefully at some point someone will provide us a good overhead photo close-up of these corner pockets, which could give us a better idea what the approximate pocket facing angle is.

If the cue ball touches another ball in the pocket before bouncing out, then it is a foul.

From what we saw in first day today, looks to me like the PFA’s are likely to be in the 142-143 zone. Someone shared a pic of the 4.5” (!!) side pockets today in another thread. Hopefully someone in Vegas can grab & share a close up of a corner.

Here's a front page bite from Skylar.... ".

The table is tight.
The side pockets are unbelievable. They’re crazy.
I like it.
The side pockets are genius.
They’re so tough. It’s how top-level pool should be.”

I absolutely LOVE it! So much more action in the Mosconi. To play devils advocate... if they don't stop at 4", cheating the pockets will become impossible.

At 4”, the only opportunity to cheat the pocket is when the object ball is within a foot of the pocket, and even then, not much!

At what point does it become the 9 ball equivalent of Chinese 8 ball, or snooker, only without rounded pocket corners?

I understand the desire to "make it more interesting" to the viewers, but this is bordering into something that is no longer american pool.

All 4" pockets are not created equal. The shelf depth is a huge factor. When a ball can contact the rail 2 diamonds out of the pocket and still fall that's just not right IMHO. I noticed that happened yesterday in the Cup.
So even though the pocket measures 4" it's generous.

That happens on slick new cloth. I've seen it happen even on deeper shelf Diamond's.
