This poll is for new cues, bought from the maker. You can choose multiple answers.

I bough a Josey and a Bob Frey this year and both were great to deal with. I got the cue in the timeframe they had told me and the cues play perfect.

I'm more of a quality kinda guy. Great woods, topnotch finish and hits pretty good. Those things need time. A couple of cues I ordered were not at par. I won't post them.

I was very fortunate, apparently I made good choices. My cues were either very close to on time, or only moderately behind. I want them done right more than fast - within reason. Meaning I expect it to be right one way or the other, but my patience is only as good as what the maker earns. Proactive, timely, honest communication is a must. I've only been tested a tad. The only cue or case maker that had to wait more than 30 minutes for money from me was the one that wanted payment shipped in some form, and that was done as & when promised.
I got excellent work in excellent to acceptable time frames.

interesting thread

Batted about .500 in '09....a pretty good year, I guess.

1 - cue was delivered on time and exceeded my expectations for hit, build quality, and value (1st cue I have gotten from this cuemaker) :)

1 - ditto, another great transaction....cue was delivered on time and the work was above my expectations (cuemaker is someone I regularly do business with) :)

1 - ordered a $3000+ cue over 8 years ago with 25% cash deposit up-front....cuemaker never started the cue and then when he finally was ready to begin in fall of '08, he wanted to build me substantially less cue for the same agreed money....was forced to cut my losses and get my deposit back around the first of the year

1 - had another cue ordered a few years ago....the cue was nicely built, but when it was ready it was ultimately priced to me at 75% more that I was originally quoted, so I wouldn't take it (my 1st and last attempt at getting a cue for this CM) :frown:

without naming names, this thread is pretty useless as far as information is concerned.
I didn't buy any cues in '09. Why should I? My Keith Josey is a good cue...:)

6 new customs between 3 cuemakers

In 2009 I ordered 6 customs from 3 cuemakers, All were recieved with in the time frame the cuemakers allowed. I was very ,very happy with the cue's I ordered and purchased in 2009. I just have to say no to myself from here on out when it comes to ordering cue's It gets to be like a addiction .<<ED

I bought three used cues from three different people here. Super cues an super people. Everything was done to see me happy start to finish. I've turned into some sort of a cue freak. Hoping in 2010 to get my titlist conversion. Always looking. Skip

Ordered 4 custom cues.
1. Guy has a 2+ yr waiting list, ordered it and got it in within a month of ordering it.

2. Cue ordered in Nov 2008. Basic cue, same answers every time I inquire about the cue "Looks great, almost done"

3. Ordered a cue from a maker that has a 8+ yr waiting list....was told it should be done mid 2010

4. Ordered a cue from one of the top cuemakers in the industry in Oct 2008. Paid 2500.00 down payment. Lots of run around on this cue, cuemaker is dragging his feet and takes months to respond to emails. I ask for picture updates and he states he does not take pictures of his cues in progress.

Overall its been good, the 1 cue with the deposit is about the only one I am concerned about....I am going to give it a few more months then I will fly to visit him and see the cue in person. If I like what I see, then I will be ok.

I ordered a tulipwood into ebony full splice from Whitey with Huricaine cues in feb. He told me to expect it in 3 months and 3 weeks later I was playing with it. needless to say it was a great experience.

it was a slow year for cues for me, I did buy one come to think of it, But it has a couple issures we can solve, he rushed it out the door, no biggie,

oh yeah I bought a P2 this year also

and perhaps 2-3 other small cue.

Great experiences with both Darrin Hill and Ron Kilby in 2009. Hope to continue into 2010.

Have some good and bad experiances, one Cue was orderd in Dec.2007 and told me three Month with 50% Deposit and it arreives Dec.2009, but the Cue was worth to be wait. The second and third was ordered Jan.2009 and not received yet:mad: the fourth was a little late , but top notch. Will see what 2010 brings, I have many Cues on Order and hope the Cuemakers are better.

nothing big thsi year, i am adding one monster(its the monster of monsters) next year and thats about it, and a few plane player cues-my favorits.

i'm more intersted in playing good than i am cues, I own almost what I want to own, if i learn of something or its new they yes im interseted, Its possible to have a goal of the cues you dream of and end it there, just buying more poles for thesake of buying them aint my bag, some guys likethat feeling of something new, i like the feeling of owning the same cue for 20 plus years,

massive accumulation of cues isnt cue collecting its filling a void for that person, no different than coin coectots , stamp collectors,, cars as well. im not knocking anyone, enjoy your cues, but think of whjy your buying them-thats all\\

best

Wonderful + 10

I bought an Eddie Farris cue from Sung Kang ( S & K CUES ) and couldn't be happier with the cue or the service I got from Sung Kang.

He did a beautiful refinish on the cue that probably didn't even need it.

Sung Kang is definitely one of the best guy's I have ever dealt with here on AZ. Check my i trader, I've dealt with the best AZ has to offer ;)

So yeah, 2009 was a very good year for me !!!

2009

Blackcreek cue delivered at SBE . Exceeded all expectations. Travis just keeps getting better and better. Overheard Bill Shick say if he had to buy a Fullsplice blank from anyone it would be Travis.

Denali Cue . Was delivered a little late but was worth the wait. Cue exceeded expectations and am very pleased with the purchase.

Have some cues on order 2010

Have multiple orders with 3 long wait list hard to get guys(Hercek, Showman, Haley). Have been on lists since 2005 a couple more years to go. I contact them once a year or so to let them know I'm still alive. All have been excellent to deal with. Have been through the order process with Ron once before . Was the most enjoyable thing I have done with a cuemaker to date.

Kikel, 2 Mobleys, Murell, Sugertree all due this year. I let Jamie sweat the details on these.

Omen, Rick Howard. 2 cues I ordered on my own. Hoping to bring them to the SBE. Pete is the fastest person I have ever seen respond to email. Rick very easy to work with . I'm sure both will exceed expectations.

Zylr Deposit about 3 years ago . I need to try and contact him to see where I stand.

Joey cue Deposit sent cue due in a year or so . Still on schedule.

Tucker Cue ....one of these days I'll get one but no deposit so no worries. All Good.

Gina, Firmed up an order just need to send him the deposit
