I have been puting a lot of practice on the Triple Shimmed "devil table" at Raxx and it has helped me emensly. It is not the table to run a lot of balls on though. I did muster out a 50 on it a few weeks ago and it felt afterwards like I just ran 300 !!!

This table will make you make sure all your fundamentals are in order before you pull the trigger. I can't wait to get on a standard pocket table to see how much my game has changed.

Below is a pic of the pockets !!!

Whatcha think ?

Looks like my kinda table;) A 50 on that is very impressive.
A normal table's pockets are going to feel like you're shooting into 5 gallon buckets! I'll bet you hit another 100+ run real soon. Sandcastle in Edison has a nice table like that too. I think all pool halls should have a table or two like that. Really shows how straight you stroke and how clean you can pocket a ball.

Good shooting to you!

Kevin

P.S. Best I ever did on table 1 at Sandcastle was a 42(pockets are less than 4" at the opening) Someday I'll break 50 and then 100+ ! :) It will happen! :)

"Devil" table pocket measurements:
Mouth 4 1/8
Throat 3 3/8
Shelf 1 3/8

Using Dr. Dave's formula, the Table Difficulty Factor for that table would be:

1.00 (Table Size Factor) x 1.15 (Pocket Size Factor) x 1.02 (Pocket Angle Factor) x .99 (Pocket Shelf Factor) = 1.16.

Indeed, that is a difficult table!

Can you share with us Dr Daves scale that you use to determine this ?

Thanks

Did you happen to notice that the pocket facings seem to have different contours? The one on the right looks to be slightly convex and the left, slightly concave.

Poster Samiel and I used to play 14.1 on a 3shimmed table like that.ONLY.
The balls were old and probably never had been polished.
The pockets were not only tight they were shimmed badly so "pocket knowledge"
was a necessity.
The table had bad rolls at 4 of the 6 pockets.
We often played in the morning when glare from the parking lot was bad.
He ran a 52 on that decrepid thing!

Why did we play there? It may have been the best 9 ft table available.:eek:Yes we often played 10 ball money games or captains 1pocket on the same table.

CJ wiley can verify how bad the table is. TOI on that table leads to PAT[pick another table]

Table 3 in Steinway....

Hey Steve... I love the table in Raxx plays great! Good to practice on... but table 3 in Steinway, I believe, is tougher. Have you ever played on it??

Try it, you'll love it... or hate it.

Hey Jay,

I have seen the table at Steinway while I was there for the worlds and for the Ginky Memorial, but I have yet to be there to play on their tables.

Hopefully soon I will get over there again to check it out !

Maybe a lot of balls fired in down the long rail a bit hard and off. Seen a few inner corner pockets like that.
