So Im looking for some instructional books or videos on reading the table or looking for the run out. some times its clear as day and some times its like where do I go George where do I go . Any suggestions.

There are loads of resources out there if you can translate what you read or watch to the table. Some people can do this better than others. There is no substitute for doing. By this I mean there is no shortcut. You must play game after game. Hopefully you play in a poolroom that has a lot of better players that you can match up with. For me watching and asking questions has worked also.

If you're talking 8-ball you want Phil Capelle's Play your Best 8-Ball... he's got everything you'd ever want for planning runouts, picking the right group, dealing with problem balls, etc... excellent book.

Totally agree. Capelle's books on 9 Ball and 14.1 are great too.

For 8 Ball, this book also gives excellent information, especially if you are playing on mostly bar tables.

The books and DVDS should help.
The only tip I can give you is if you can't see the pattern right away try walking around the table and looking at it from all four sides.

Pace car I watch those youtube vids periodically . thanks for the links ive book marked them.

Creedo thanks I"ll check it out

Philly unfortunately I can comprehend what I read the problem is with my ADD I have to read a paragraph two and 3 times before I actually hear it .I could read a page and not hear a single word and have to start over. I force my self to read because I do get a lot from it . My game has improved 100 percent after finding this site and also reading Robert Byrnes standard book of pool and billiards and the New Standard version and a few from the library . My local library has Byrne's full set of VHF tapes and I brought the vhf recorder out the attic to watch them . I think I will go rent them again its been a year since I saw them and might understand something I didn't a year ago. I get a lot of my knowledge of pool playing from reading and when I play I try to implement what I have read. As far as playing in rooms the two descent ones close early and most of the guys I can get info from are leaving when Im walking in. I work late and just cant get there early enough. the other two rooms are gamble houses cant get a game with out a bet. I am on a APA team Im a 5 almost made MVP the last two sessions and get some good play time but you don't hear or see anyone on our team unless its league night. Im not complaining just explaining the intrest in quality material.

must have been typing when you other guys were answering will look in to those books also and measureman I do have the problem of not walking around enough Im working on that it definitely improves my game when I do .

What game(s) are you playing. Try starting with a few balls and develop patterns
