Real or Fake Schon?

Thats the real deal. The early model Schons had the dots over the O. Im not sure of the actual name for those. It looks to be a mid 90's Schon. It has a the quick release joint they used during that time period.Not sure if they still use it however

If I am not mistaken, 9b4me is also SCCues, an upstanding member here on AZ. I have dealt with him a number of times over the years and consider him a good friend. I would have no hesitation in dealing with James.

That is one nice Schon. That is what many Schon lovers like. It will have a slightly larger butt diameter than the newer cues. I have a 1990 model it has no dots. Nice Cue!!!

What do you guys think of the price? I understand the market is a little soft, is $600 too high?
 
i doubt he's going to get the 700 buy it now price. u can get a custom made cue specific to tastes for that amount. he might get something like 550. i was looking at some predator cues saw a 4k7,4k5 sell for 500 each. this is with a 1st generation shaft tho but still pretty cheap. i dont think ppl are willing to pay any more than 500 for production cues. i know schon is considered custom but it seems more like a really good production cue to me.
 
Can anyone comment on the difference in the hit between this older joint vs a newer joint used by Schon.

Does the S in Schon look a little funny though almost as if it is a dollar sign or were they all like that, I had an old R2 from 1989 and I cant remember. Oh yeah the N in the butt looks a little weird too....I am not saying it is a fake but I never noticed that before
 
He tried a machined pin for that year. Found out out it didn't make a difference accept cost more for the pin.

Its most definately a real Schon, here is my SP series cue from 1990ish.

thats a nice looking cue. If you like the way old schons hit (and i do) i think 600 wouldnt be a bad price if its in decent shape. Of course just recently on here someone had a skull schon ltd for like 800 which is sweet, id love an old skull schon (guess ill stick with my old sp46 though)

Yeah, I bought it!! I would like to thank everyone for their input and especially Ryan (AXLROSE) for his vote of confidence in the seller, James Holly (SCCues). He's a great guy to do business with. And no I didn't Buy It Now, I got it for a lot less.:D

I think I'm getting the "Cue Flu", is there a cure?;)

Hi, Mike.

I am glad I could help. I am sure you will be pleased. James is a real stickler on the condition of his cues and describes them as accurately as anyone. Let me know how you like it. I have batted around the idea, for some time now, of trying out a steel-jointed cue again.

By the way, if there is a cure for the cue sickness, I haven't found it yet.
