Reasonable price range

What would a reasonable price range be for a mechanic to re - cover a 7 ft. valley with Simonis?

How much would I potentially save with tournament championship? I don't mind paying for good work, but don't want to get hosed either.

Just got a quote on the same thing, 7ft valley covered with championship cloth and new cushions installed. Complete job cost was 450

Our local bar just had simonis upgrade on all valleys they got company that rents them tables to do work I believe it was 3 or 350 a table

Sorry I wasn't more clear..... I only got a price on it, I haven't had it installed yet. If it helps, the table mechanic told me that he thinks the championship cloth is better and that it will last longer.

I have spent considerable time on both and definitely prefer the simonis...but either is a fine choice.

I dont know why, but 2 rooms in my area gave the championship a chance, returning to simonis next round.

I have Simonis 860 on my Gold Crown and Championship on my Valley. The only reason I put Championship on the Valley was to keep it identical to the local amusement company that supplies tables for local tournaments. The Simonis seems like a much, much better cloth.

I really couldn't say which one is better. I've shot on tables that have both and both I thought were good. I'm only an amateur shooter and cannot give an opinion either way. Just trying to give an idea of the cost.

Ive wondered tabout this as well. None of the bars where APA plays around here have great cloth. I don't ever see myself playing in any big simonis sponsored tourneys. Might be worth saving some cash and going with the championship.

Here is an old Valley that was in poor condition at a Local Senior housing Rec room that needed a re-cover, pockets, balls etc late last year I helped with.

The Mechanic likesd the Championship for durability purposes and cost for this job. We went with the 'Invitational' value cloth in Euro Blue. Looked and played 100% better The seniors love it now.

If I had a old valley I would choose Simonis 860 but the durable Championship cloth seemed right for this job as they had a budget and it would be 20 years before it got re-covered again.

Bringing this topic back up

Finally getting time to circle back around to the topic of having my table recovered. I have gotten quotes/ recommendations from three mechanics around here. The prices I am getting are roughly

$550 for Simonis 860
$500 for Championship Tour edition
$400 for Championship Titan (21 oz)

Everyone I got quotes from said the championship tour edition is a "high Speed" cloth that will outlast the Simonis. Anyone have experience with the tour edition??

Recovering seems to be more expensive than I thought:(

Which brings me to my next question: How difficult is it to recover a 1 piece slate table? I am a pretty handy guy, but I just assumed this job would be too big to do alone...any good tutorials out there?

I've heard the same. My local room has Champ and it's nice.

Gorino tournament 2000 cloth from Mueller's.

Imo way better than simonis and much less expensive.

As fast if not faster than simonis, has a hair more nap/heavier hand and wears like steel. Doesn't wear to faster speed and less nap/hand like simonis.

I've played new simonis to worn simonis many years over, with cloth changed annually.

Same, I've played Gorino 2000 from new to worn many years over, changed annually.

Hands down the Gorino is better.

Blue is the only color for me.

Those prices seem high unless you are also doing new rails. I think my 8' table setup with Simonis was about $400 and that was with assembling and leveling the table. Sounds like you are being charged full retail for the cloth.

I have a 7ft valley at home that has Simonis 860HR on it. Has held up well. Cost $500 with new cushions installed

There are nothing to Valley tables.

You can get precovered Penguin rails (highly recommended) with Simonis and the slate cloth for about $420.

Takes about 40 mins to recover slate and maybe 10 minutes to redo the leveling if much is needed at all.

How do they compare to ridgeback rails?

I would first determine the cost to have an expert table mechanic do the work and decide from there to what degree you are willing to gamble.
