Recommended Vacuum?

I'd like to purchase a decent vacuum for the specific purpose of cleaning tables... I'm curious which you guys recommend... I wouldn't imagine that it should cost much more than $30, but I could be wrong. Normally, I would do a search for this type of thing, but I haven't had a lot of time to research lately. Thanks in advance.

What kind of cloth is on the tables you will be cleaning?

Simonis X1 is a great chalk dust remover for simonis cloth and other alike

Shop vacuum or a vacuum with no rotating brush is all ways a good idea no matter what cloth is installed on your tables...
compressed air works as a dust and dirt remover on the hard to reach areas.

Sorry for leaving out that detail.
Velocity and Simonis on the 9ft, and some non worsted cloth (Mali and Championship) on bartables.
This is not for high frequency use. Only about once a week on my own table, but a few times a year, I will be using it on multiple tables at barbox tournaments.

I'd like to find a shop vac nozzle that has bristles about 2" or 3" long, like an upholstery brush or like a regular table brush, that is about 12" wide. I've not been able to locate one.

I've never had a problem with the cloth from using this. Burnishing a vac with no head or with stiff bristles etc will ruin the cloth faster than a little vac like this with the air going through at the same time it is sliding down the cloth. IMO it works excellent. You could play on the tables in my poolroom and your hands were always clean, which of course means the balls were clean also, which is most important.

I have seen many pool room tables with cloth that has been rubbed shiny from normal vacs and the guys using them thinking it was a workout. I would not use a dirt devil type but this one is soft.

Of course I'm curious? did you have a problem or see where it was?

Obviously the guys using them don't know what they are doing.
No pressure on an attachment is needed. Let the tool do the work.
Pulling chalk dust from cloth is not rocket science.

I have this one that I got from Lowe's. It was $10 off so it cost me $20. I bought a wide attachment for another $10 (NO rotating bristles). Does a great job, plenty of suction but doesn't lift the cloth (and the cloth is not glued to the bed). As they say on the Simonis website, less is more when it comes to vacuuming the table, it doesn't take much to lift chalk dust out of the cloth. Keeps the surface real clean. I just make one slow pass in one direction from the head to the foot rail. About 7-8 passes and I've covered the entire width of the table. I use the narrower attachment that came with the machine for the rails. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Shop Vac

Hope this helps.
