Who holds the most balls on break record for 9-ball? Has anyone ever made 9?
Filmed, or many witnesses/major tournament only, no bigfishstorytime.

I once made 7 balls on the break and was hooked behind the 9 ... had to shoot at the 7, kicked and "slopped it"...and then got the 9!!! (to win $20)
I have seen a few players make 6, Medina, Ambrose, Relihan just to name some. Bryan Mordt of BCM cues, made 7 at the Golden 8 in Phoenix.

Yesterday i made 6 bals on the break .With a Mezz power break q.The next rack i made the 9 .and two more times after that to get the cash SWEET... But me i jus a no body.but will play all most any body..

My friend was playing in a small local tournament here in missouri once and the guy he was playing mad 7 balls on the break. The bad thing is that they each had 3 or 4 shots at the last two balls before the other guy finally finished the game off. I would have to say that the post break shots were some of the worst I have seen in a tournament! :D

I think Bustamante has made 6 on the break quite a few times, 7 balls on the break is just ridiculous!

I've heard "stories" about someone making all 9 on the break, but I find it hard to believe. I suppose it's possible. I have actually seen 7 once in my life. I've made 6 a handful of times, and I don't consider myself as having a "monster break" or anything like that, so I'm sure there are people out there who have done better than that. The funny thing about the person that I saw make 7 was, he wasn't really a player. He was a guy who would come to the pool room and get rediculous spots from everyone, but he could hit them hard. Even more funny was that the only two balls left were the 8 and 9, and he was dead froze to the 9 - hooked on the 8! If you ever want to see a BIG break, check out Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant break the balls. All I can say about his break is "wow".

"Fast Larry" Grindinger claims a record of 8 balls in both 9 ball and 8 ball. As to whether that's on film or not I don't know. The following page doesn't include info as to witnesses. I don't know whether to believe this self-promoter or not.

i have also witnessed 7 on the break but with the 7 and 9 left. The guy was
dead hooked as well. Could this be the pool gods saying be careful
for what you wish for! I also saw the same guy break and the cue ball split
into two pieces when it contacted the rack. It was on a bar table.
Probably an old ball but he hit them hard and it made for a funny moment
with one half hooked and the other straight on the one ball.

I believe Donnie Hall split the cue ball in half one time on the break! :D

Snoozy,

I think I have a copy of FL doing 7 or 8 balls on film. Old, bad, VHS quality, but none-the-less it's quite a few balls on the 8-break.

I got the footage from back in the TASA days when they did thier shows and tourney's at military bases.

I pulled the nes-cafe video into my video editing system. Blew it up on my 70-inch screen, took it to slow motion.

1) The balls look a little off...

2) In slow motion, you can clearly see that three times the balls go THROUGH each other to make the shot.

It's a computerized composite of a shot. It's really good though, fun to watch. I think, I heard that after I wrote the guys that run the site, they have since posted a comment that it IS fake. But, I haven't found it on thier site that way.

Let me know if someone finds the place where they admit it's false.

ALL NINE on the break. I think the rack is set funny though, if you look real closely, it looks loose. Really cool, though!

No record is kept for breaks at nine ball or eight ball. Personally, I wouldn't accept any claim that was not in a tournament -- too easy to have a favorable table or favorable racking.

7 on the break and hooked?

> I too have seen 7 balls made on the break,by Cliff Joyner at the Super Bowl tournament at The Rack in Memphis, only 2 left were the 7 and 9,cue ball froze to the rail,9 stacked up on top,7 ball hanging in the side pocket, but on the far side, making a one rail kick impossible. Cliff pushed out, barely separating the cue ball and the 9. Danny Cook took an off angle 2 railer, kicked the 7 in,got position on the 9,and from 6-3 down in a race to 7,ran out the set. Why is it that 7 balls on the break seems to result in being hooked? Tommy D.

HillBilly posesses the most powerful break in the world, hands down. I have seen him make 6 balls dozens of times, but he said the most he has ever made was 7.
