Realkingcobra...I've read a lot of your comments and threads and would very much appreciate your opinion on these questions.
First of all I want to say that there's a reason why United coin op pool tables are no longer manufacturing, as they went out of business, because they didn't build one of the top 5 coin operated pool tables. Valley, Dynamo, Quality Billiards, Brunswick, Delta and Global all built much better pool tables.
760 cloth is not what makes a pool table play super fast, that speed comes from the design of the sub rails and cushions used.
1) because a lot of the hacks out here working are only concerned with getting the job done as fast as they can, get paid, and get out of there.
2) if the glue-down is done right, with Fast-Bond10, then the cloth won't pull loose later, won't turn into a mess, and won't be anywhere accept on the side of the slate and not on top to build up. My system eliminates having to pull most of the staples out on a
re-recover, and eliminates the deterioration of the slate backer boards, and will still work perfect even in the absence of a slate liner. And the cloth can be installed much tighter, and in the final product, look a hell of a lot cleaner looking when finished.
3) As far as Simonis, they recommend what I taught them, as they hired me to show the world how to install their cloth correctly, thus the Simonis cloth installation DVDS.

Thanks for the reply Realkingcobra. I know you are not a big fan of Olhausen, however I have a montrechet with the accu guard cloth (supposed to be close to the 860hr) and when installed there was no glue used. Table is new as of August 2014 and everything is tight and nice. If I ever get ready to recover I would like someone of your expertise to do the work. What would you think about a visit to Florida..........hahaha thanks again for your reply.
Well, as winter is coming to an end soon, next winter would be a good time to think about heading down to Florida...LOL

My next question is- what would you do in my situation? (aside from doing research next time before I buy something:embarrassed2
Are united tables bad? What makes them substandard to a valley, dynamo etc?
I have the united table and unfortunately buying a used valley and starting from scratch is out of the budget right now.
I could, if I had to-buy some 860 simonis ($200) instead of the 760 and redo the rails and such or should I just use what I have?
Tony from md thinks it should work ok, havnt really gotten a solid answer from you, most other people on here think its too fast and i'll be disappointed.
If I should go with the 860 i will talk to the place I bought the 760 from and see what I can do since the salesman assured me they are essientially the same.
At worst im guessing they will take the bed cloth back and make me pay for what was used on the rails then have to spend $200 on some 860...

Well, for what it's worth, 760 is my favorite cloth to play on as I like playing 14.1, go ahead and use it, it's not going to be as fast as everyone claims it will be. And for what it's worth, United went out of business because they built a piss poor coin op pool table, not because the table played bad like so many other produced....that also went out of business as well.

Ended up buying the 3m scotchweld 10 adhesive....
Almost didnt get it- had it sent to my local grainger store for pick up this morning.
I guess its some kind of hazardous something or other and they dont sell it to the general public- the girl asked if I was a business owner so I bullsh!tted my way through it, walked out with some 3m and a grainger credit acct for a grand lol.
It went pretty easy, I followed the video on youtube that diamond posted on recovering a table with simonis. I followed their stretch pattern gluing one complete side then starting at the opposite side pocket and stretched it like octomoms vajayjay. I then worked from the side to each corner and did the ends of the table last.
Turned out pretty good. Definantly fast.... Not sure if I like it or not..

Why in the world are you putting 760 on a barbox. That will play way too fast and make the game play innapropriately. I would not do that. I don't think I would even put 860 on anything smaller than an 8 footer.

I too am interested to know how it plays. Either way, it looks like you did a nice job on the felt.

Its definantly fast.. Im not sure exactly how it compares to the league tables we play on but it seems faster to me. I shoot league this thursday on a diamond smart table, i'll be able to make a better comparison after that.
I can say it was a royal pita getting it leveled up... I used a precision level then slow rolled balls to fine tune it.. Still isnt 100% but I'll work on it more tomorrow.

After playing on it for a few days I think im going to switch to something else...
It plays way too fast for me- I shoot pretty much just 8 and 9 ball. I dont really see how shooting on this could help my game at all.
On average my breaks are dropping 4-5 balls, before it was 1-2 occasionally 3.
Anyone ever used this on any of their tables before?

Funny, I've installed the Simonis 760 on thousands of bar tables in the Pacific Northwest back when I was pioneering the cloth in the bar table industry, that would have been in the 80s....and never did run into anyone that could make 4-5 balls on the break on average...got any videos of that break?

Well, maybe not on average... I guess im used to talking to women..
When you mounted the rails, did you make sure the rails when mounted, we're under that lip of aluminum at the top of the rail cap?

All but the edge of one rail by the ball return corner. I tried pushing it down but I cant get it to seat under the ridge
I thought so, what you want to do is tilt the top edge of the rail in first under the aluminum lip, then slide the bottom of the rail in next, then start the rail bolts and tighten up.
