Wow...

Great looking cue throw on a leather lizzard wrap and and add a couple shafts and I bet the owner of that feels pretty lucky ...lol...

Great work Joe I can't wait to see how it hits... You have been awesome to talk to and your work speaks for itsself ... Just can't wait to ge this baby in my hands...

This is one of several I'm buying from guys who I think and feel do a great job on a cue ... I also have one coming from Doug Patrick , Jimmy Lee and BHQ they all pretty much think alike as they are not in it to make a mint they just want to make the best cue at the best price. They have all been outstanding and very friendly and know what they are doing you would think that having 3 cues made and a jump break one would run into someone that was not easy to deal with I guess I hit it right cause these cue makers have been a pleasure to deal with... Maybe not big names in the business yet but you never know I remember in the early 80's I walked into a store plopped down 375.00 bucks for a Schon R-11 when no one knew what a schon was and 20 + years later it had increased it's value at least 4 times... Plus I hear these guys make cues that play very well which is what I am after the most...

Thank you Joe , Doug , Jimmy and Brent ...

Hey Butch,
Thanks for the kind words.. I hope you enjoy the the cue as much as I enjoy making them..

JB Customs ...

This is the second time I have contacted Joe to make me a cue ... I had been wanting one of his cues for awhile but we had been hit and miss and never really hooking up till now. I am excited to be getting this cue I had called him to talk to him about one but had no real design in mind. I guess I just lucked out cause when we got to talking Joe suggested this cue that he was in the process of building and about to finish up on. He suggested that it would eliminate the wait time one has to wait for a cue to be made ... He sent me pics and I knew I wanted the cue ... We ironed out some details such as me wanting two shafts , putting on a lizzard skin wrap ... tip ... etc ...etc... It sure has been a pleasure and Joe has made it very easy for me ...

I had never seen a recut cue till he showed me this one , The inlays are made out of Camel bone... With ring work in points A,B,C,D and E... I have heard great things about the playability and hit of Joes cues and certainly his work and craftsmanship is awesome ... It is obvious he has put alot of time and devotion into this cue. And I am very lucky to have hit him at the right time . I can hardly wait to get this cue in my hands and give it a test run and I certainly plan on doing a review on the cue once I do... Joe has told me the Cue should be finished very soon the money for this cue is already on its way to Joe if he does not already have it ...

Joe has worked very hard to get his name out there and that is not a easy thing to do when your raising kids and family , Every time I have talked to Joe he has been a pleasure to talk to always kind and courtious . His replies are prompt and info accurate and friendly... When I first got on this forum Joe was one of the first cue builders I talked to about building me a cue ... He directed me to Bell Forest Products where I was trying to navigate a page. I was totaly lost and blowing it completly ... Joe was very patient , very kind and I'm not sure I could of been as composed as he was guiding me through that site... lol... In a very short time I learned alot from Joe on Custom cue building ... He is first class and it shows in his work and how he runs his business...

Joe I hope you continue to post pics of this cue ... And post them before you ship it out to me as I have no way to do that at the moment... Also while we are at it can you give me a update on the cue ... Thank you for building this beauty and for selling it to me ...

WOW!!! Got my Cue from Joe Baker today...

JOE -Hey you shipped the cue Monday and here it is Weds Morning and the Cue is setting here with me... Talk about fast shipping ... I know I don't have to but I hope to try it out later this afternoon and once I do I will post a review of my cue that you built... I must say it was well packaged you know it is well pakaged when I'm cussing you out trying to solve the jig saw puzzle to get it unwrapped but it arrived in perfect condition and that put a smile on my face and made the work well worth it all... My first impressions of the cue were WOW!!! Your finish is outstanding I love a Schon and I don't think thier finish is as good as your yours... Did you do the points in this cue ? They are outstanding down to the razor sharpe line they end in and all look perfectly even from what I can see with my naked eye with out measuring ... Including the recuts which your pics do not bring out near the beauty and detail that you put into the recuts and those points also ... The Camel bone inlays look like Ivory to me and are very pretty just promise me these Camels will not haunt me and again very sharp and detailed... The wrap is not seemless but appears to be applied very well... The ring work is nice and looks much like the ring work you would see around a Schon's joint... With my love for Schon you know I like that ... The butt is skinny I think it is thinner then a Schon but that is fine for me I prefer small butts as a big butt does not feel as good in my hand... And I now have a place for that set of Cocobolo JP's I bought off of Dave they look very sharp on there. Well mostly wanted to let you know I have the cue in my possession and thank you for doing a great job ... It arrived safe and sound and looks good once I hit it I will post a little more about the cue in the thread you have been posting the pics of it in...

-These were my reactions this morning when I first recieved this cue ...

I have gone down to the pool hall and shot several racks with the cue and as promised wanted to write a review on it... I don't have anyway to post pics of it so I will do it here in the thread it started all started in...

I walked into the pool hall today and got my balls walked back and pulled the cue out of my case . I placed it on the table and rolled each piece seperate then together and the cue rolls prefectly straight. by this time a few people came over to look at what I was doing and noticed the new cue and made several positive comments on it a few wanted to hit with it but I told them another day as I just got it and was selfish with it today...lol

The Balance point on this cue is right above the wrap at about the top half of the camel bone inlay so the cue plays forward... The balance is very good as the cue felt like it was a part of my left hand ... Yep I'm a Southpaw...

I laid the balls out on the table and started shooting them off using forward english to follow which the cue did great ... it also got some amazing draw on the cue ball ... it only took me a few moments to adjust to the cue and tip and I was able to do whatever I wanted with the cue ball which is a part of my game that I always pride myself on. The hit is stiff but not to stiff, again I hate to do this but I liken it to the hit of a Schon ... Not one of my newer ones but the R-11 I just recently traded that was made by Bob Runde. The cue gives you a good feedback and you hardly notice it as the balance is well and it makes for a smooth stroke and slides though your fingers like a well oiled machine.

The craftsmanship in the cue is excellent everything matches up wonderfully. Again the ring work reminds you of a Schon ... The inlay work is amazing as is the recut work ... The points are very sharp in fact I had to ask Joe is he did these himself ... Again they remind me of the sharp points that are highly sought after in the Bob Runde era Schon... The cue screws together with ease when you put it together when I went to take it apart it surprised me cause it was like it locked and I had to give a little extra tug to get it to start screwing back off... Which is good I was kind of worried with the ease it screwed together it may come lose but when it is tight it is certainly tight and not going anywhere. There are no nicks , scratches , dents or flaws in the craftsmanship of this cue. As I said when the cue first come in the finish is top notch to me ot looks better then the finish that Schon uses ... Sorry for all the comparisons to Schon but Schon is the cue of my choice and the best cue I have ever used so for me to compare it to such is a true compliment ... I hope Joe does get offended by my comparison.
If there is anything wrong at all with the craftsmanship my only knock would be in the wrap ... It is not seemless you can see and slightly feel the seem in it ... But the wrap is on there and it looks good the seem does not stick out like a sore thumb you have to take a closer to see the seem and feel it .. I have to put this in to let of y'all know this is a honest review and not some ra ra piece go buy one of Joes cues reviews ... Maybe this is nit picking and I guess it is because Joe really did a awesome job on this cue ...

I played about 25 games against a friend of mine who we are pretty close in skills but today he could not touch me ... Today I was calling him my rack boy ...lol...He swore he was going to bust my magic wand in half on the first day I got it from Joe ... Hey what are freinds for right...lol...

On a personal note after I got the cue this morning and posted to Joe he then called me... I could hear the excitment in his voice ... Heck he was just as excited as I was ... I could tell by the way he talked and the tone in his voice that he cared about the cue ... He cared about the work in the cue and he cared about me as a customer and he wanted me to be happy with the cue and his work ... Which of course I'm more then happy I feel like I got a deal from the greatest cue maker in the world right now... I also recieved a Certificate of Authenticity from Joe on the cue ... Stating when it was made and by who ... That I own it , Identifying the cue and requesting that I let him know if I ever get rid of it so he can follow the cue ... What more can you ask for with so much going on here at AZ it is so nice to find a cue maker like this ... Plus he kept his delivery times and the shipping was super fast ... Joe this has been a awesome experience and I thank you ...

I also have cues being built by other cue makers ... .They will have to work to top what Joe has done ... But so far they have been just as good as Joe as far as customer relations and working to give me what I want... I have 5 customs being built by 5 different makers so far it has been a very rewarding experience ... If they all turn out like this I will be a very lucky guy and will have chosen well...

Again Thank you ...Joe Baker ...

Wow, now that is an honest review. I'm really glad that you like everything about the cue. The only thing that I can say about doing the lizard print wraps is that it is hard as heck to make them appear seamless because of the print design. But I do my best.
Thanks
