Its doable. This last pic is sanded down with 3 coats of clear epoxy, and 2 or 3 sprayed coats of lacquer. In this pic, finish needs to be rubbed out still.

rails are now stripped of seal coat, i will probably use grain filler, if theres a dark enough color, because i dont like how it looked originally with grain pits in the finish

had a look like the wood was splintering

i want it to look smooth

i dont think i can do epoxy either, how would i keep it out of the feather strip channel?

or the wall, how will it not drip at the edges

I let the epoxy flow, it got in the feather strip channel, but I was rebuilding the rails, so I just recut it to remove the epoxy.

mine are terribly chewed up and could use a rebuild,
and the epoxy coat will look great, but i cannot afford that right now, ill have to wait till the next time i change the cloth

When I was working with epoxy, anything you didn't want it to stick to, you waxed. Stuff called 'Butchers Wax' worked well. Make a strip that will fill the grove, wax it, and epoxy away:groucho:

OK I wanted to rebuild the stands one day but look what I found in the figure Of the veneer

That's freaking diabolical and I love it

top looks good to me

I saw the figure when I was taking off the previous coat and didn't want to hide it with a stain so I just used a laquer sealer, kept the look I wanted, and looks even better with the Royal Pro in green, I'm over blue

Looks like it began life as a Gabriels.

That image is not of this table I have now,
It was what I thought the rail top might look like refinished,

and I was way off, I couldn't even make out all that nice figure with all the stain and clear that was on it
Looks better now than when I received it
