Probably a basic question

I have a 314-3 with a 3/8 X 11; an also a 314 with a 3/8 X10 .

Can they be converted to 5/16 X 14 pilotted.

Not worried about the warranty; just want to use either one of these on a Tasc I just got.

Also, if it can be done-approx cost.

Thanks for any input

Dave

Yep

Kinda felt it was a bit sacrilegious using a predator shaft on Pete’s cue

Just got so used to the low deflection but I think I’ll shoot with one of the original shafts for a while
Thanks for setting me straight

Hi Dave
Mr. Tascarellas 5/16x14 piloted is a full .312/.313 joint screw. So who ever does it should be aware of this before they take the job. Or just call Mr. Tascarella

Thanks

Great info

Thank you for your replies.

If I get it done; I'll probably go to Pete so he can match the ringwork.

Thanks again

Dave

Muellers repair shop charges $75 per shaft.

I do know that Ryan T. is no longer there, so I cant speak to how good their repair work currently is. But either way, that should give you a heads up on price range.

FYI sent a shaft for some work to Mueller's recently- went back 2 times and still was not what i requested- had to go to proficient to get it right the third time. Just my own recent experience with Muellers- done with them for now anyhow. Nice people but did not deliver

I just took a 3/8-10 shaft someone gave me with a small diameter black collar, drilled & tapped it for a 7/16-14 OD / 5/16-14 ID brass insert, and it's a perfect fit for my old Willie Hoppe cues which have fairly small OD joint collars.
I had no other use for that shaft and have no idea why the collar diameter was so small, but it was free, and fits the old Brunswick joints perfectly, somewhere close to .820

We used 30 minute cure BSI 2-part epoxy for the insert, apparently super glue isn't good for that application.
My first insert so we were very careful not to over drill, over tap, and it turned out perfect.
The shaft plays amazing, but since it was an existing shaft there was no way to build up the pilot with a large radius wood pilot around the brass like my original Willie Hoppe & Rambow shafts.
