Regulation Cue Size?

I see cues in different lengths. Around 57" - 62" usually. Generally the accepted "normal" cue is about 58" for, as far as I know, most American cue sports. Is there a Regulation size for cues that is dictated by accepted rule books? American cue sports? Snooker? Golf? Jump Cues? For instance, I know some people are perfectly adept with shaft jumping when they can, when it's permitted, but would there ever actually be a jump cue at about 30"?

In the old days, people with the skills to do so just jumped with their playing cue. Personally I don't think jumping should be allowed because I think it hinders in requiring people to have to learn the rails better,,,,,and also the jump cues make it too easy, and some argue this, but I personally believe jumping cuts the fibers in the cloth which could promote premature damage to the cloth.

BCA Rule:

Minimum length is 40 inches, there is no maximum.

Maximum weight is 25lbs, there is no minimum.

Maximum width of the cue tip is 14mm, there is no minimum.

Just repaired a Meucci where the shaft and butt were each 28 7/8". Never seen one in that odd size. Special order maybe.

Earl used a 10 footer during some match. Not really sure of the length or who he played against. Shows what impact it made. Not very memoriable.

TheBook...Earl's cue, made by Mike G is only 70", not 120" (10'). It was first used in the SVB/Earl match played in OH a year or so ago. Earl won. A couple weeks later, he played Archer with the same cue, in Lincoln NE, and won again. He's still playing with the cue, ASFAIK, and had it last fall in VA at the Open.

"Normal" would be 57" for a one-piece
"Normal" would be 58" for a two-piece

Snooker cues are the same, except for tip size.

"Normal" would be 9mm in the UK
"Normal" would be 10mm in the US

Jump cues are new, but I think "normal" would be 40", which is the standard minimum length.
