Removing a signature

I have a new Balabushka that's made in Taiwan(?) I like the cue as a regular player but I really don't care for the cheesy signature on the forearm. Is there a way anyone could remove the signature and refinish the forearm, understanding that the signature is under the finish?

Hello. I think that doing a full refinish on the forearm of the cue would remove the signature.

You local cuemaker/repairman should be able to remove the name and refinish it for you.

Are the new line of signature Balabushka cues, that were once made by Adam Japan, now made in Taiwan?

I believe so. Not 100% certain they're made in Taiwan, (no stickers) but it's the same company (Adam Cues) and I read somewhere that they're no longer made in Japan. Maybe someone who knows might let us know.

The only thing I don't like about signature removal is that years from now - some idiot will be trying to sell it as a top maker's cue. Probably one of George's. It's always good to be able to identify a maker. If that's what it was when you bought it - it probably ought to stay that way... sorry - just my opinion.

Are you saying an "idiot" will be selling it, or an "idiot" will be buying it?

I don't think many cues made in Taiwan have ever been sold as authentic Balabushkas or Szambotis. If they did, let me know...I'll buy a boat load of them.

seller

There are a fairly large number of people on Ebay trying to sell cues with no signature as historic cues by famous makers. They manage to take advantage of quite a few unlucky individuals.
