removing footspot to change out

I use the black Master teflon spot. For several years I used water on a que tip to wet and loosen the old spot for removal. That worked fairly well but the black from the spot would often get on the cloth and stain a little.

Someone suggested lighter fluid. I tried that (again on a que tip) but it spread like the plague!!!! It left an oily like stain circle about 2" out all around the spot. Also, it didn't really seem to loosen the glue as well as just water. Maybe didn't leave it on long enough or something.

Any experts on this matter???

Thanks for your help,

I don't know about you....but I just peel the old spot off, and put a new one back on....you're not going to tear the cloth taking the old one off:D

Thank you all for the help. Mine seem to tear a lot and leave a partial layer underneath. Maybe I put them on too well?? I usually wet, place and then roll a ball all around over them. Maybe just wet and place for the install next time and see if that helps.

Anyone else had any that don't seem to just peel off??
