Removing old contact cement

Well I am in the middle of the recover project and the last person did a real hack job. They used both glue, (that had come loose) and staples and even nails to hold the cushions on.

Here is the question how do you pros remove the old contact cement I have been using a razor and it is so time consuming that I can see it taking two days and I probably will still not get it all. If I use a solvent it may lift or some way damage the Formica top on my gold crown 1. In my thinking maybe I should just scuff it up and go right over the top of the old cement.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Allen

3M spray adhesive remover, am I understanding you're replacing them cushions as they don't fit on a GC?

Thanks Glen

Hi Glen and thanks for the product info. Yes, I know about the rails and the older gold crowns not going to be 50" by 100" when I am through. If I would of had the cash I would of had you do the job and got it done right but for now it will be better then it was. My game wont know the difference after all I'm only playing with my 9 year old grandson and he has to spot me the two balls:)

A shout out to all you mechanics this is time consuming work that should be done by the pros to get it right. With all of the help you guys generously provide on this site at least it gives us do it yourself types a big leg up on the home table project.

Wow, stapled on cushions, you look at what people do when they are in over their heads and it amazes you they even have enough brain power to breathe. Im an auto mechanic so I get to see lots of good stuff too.
