Rempe Withdraws

Interesting. That makes no Buddy Hall, no Jim Rempe. I bet Keith Bennett is really happy right about now. He missed qualifyiing in a number of qualifiers by not very much at all.

I wonder how the other HOF's will do being that this is a round robin, and long races spanning the whole day. Opening round will be 2-days long.

The ability to focus constantly, over different times as well as stamina will play a role for some players. The younger champs will have no problem at all being that they're used to it and have youth on their side.

I wouldn't get too alarmed. If Hall or Rempe miss the World Open in Reno, then I'd start wondering how serious their health is.

IIRC, Rempe has had back problems for many years. I don't know if that is the cause for this withdrawal, but it is a possibility. The round robin format would be grueling for anyone with back problems.

I dont know if keith was the next best qualified for the north american open, Lee Heuwagen, had 2 third place finishes in the qualifiers for the open and almost got the IPT tour card in derby city.

He is in now due to another withdrawal.

Maybe Jim & Buddy realize their Days of Glory are over, and do not want FANS to remember them when they were GREAT, and on TOP of their Games...

This is unfortunate, Rempe was one of the "old schoolers" that I was keen on seeing back in the thick of the action:(

I doubt it. Rempe looked in top shape at the KOTH. Most likely something else came up and they exercised their option of not having to play in every event.

I suspect we will see them in the next event.

Jimmy had a lonnnnng and very successful career in Pool. He was a top player for nearly forty years, winning in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. And he played all games.

His generation included Buddy, Nick, Miz, Hopkins and Sigel. They all played at a high level for a long time. Buddy, Nick and Jimmy the longest. Allen too, but he became focused on his business enterprises several years ago. Although when he dusts off his cue, he can still bring it.
