Corey will play anyone in the world bar box rack your own 8 ball or 9 ball, 12 to 15 ahead in OH, for 5,000 to 20,000. amc4

12 to 15 ahead with Corey racking his own balls? :p

Just out of curiosity, what would the offer be with Corey NOT racking his own balls on the bar box in 9-ball? I'm not a taker, BTW, but just an interested bystander. I am curious as to how much advantage it is with Corey racking his own balls.

I'll have to ask him first, He might do the same with loser racks. Just going off what he told me right now. amc

I'm going back a few years, but Keith was considered one of the best Bar Table players in the country, and they didn't like it much on the big tables either. So. Calif. was full of Mexican champions and he gave them all weight and won every time I sweated it. Anybody else out there remember the original Hard Times in Costa Mesa? St. Louie Louie was supposed to be one of the best and got robbed. John Henderson

I've heard a great deal about the Mexican champions in the '70s era and have written quite a bit about them. Before the Philippino Invasion, the Mexican players in California were the toughest ones, to include King Kong, Ernesto, Tracy Joe, et cetera.

I would be interested to hear of any Reno action reports. :p

I'll PAY to see a match between Cory & Matlock.

amc4 - I'll PAY to see a match between Corey & Matlock. I also know of a neutral location for the game - The Break in St. Louis. This should be about the same distance for both players. Much bigger action has been held there and NO $ has ever been missing or any problems with the outcome of ANY games.

I can't speak for David but I think I know of someone who can.

You (amc4) can speak for Corey I assume. If there is any interest on your part, please PM me and I will give you my 800#.

TY & GL

Ps. - I can state that if this match takes place there will some juicy, very large, succulent, Char-Grilled Rib Eye Steak Dinners available at a ridiculously low price. Maybe Ribs also.

I have no problem coming down there some time to set up a match. We are looking to play a game back home so we can film and stream it over the internet so anyone that wants too can view it. Diamond Billiards is getting ready to drop us off a 9 foot smart table and a 7 foot smart table. We were going to play the match in our studio on the 7 footer. Would love to have Dave or anyone else come down here and play. amc

I remember when I was a kid hanging out at the "new" Hard Times there was this guy named John Henderson who used to beat on the liability game. ;)

Jam who is Tracy Joe? I never heard of him. The ones I heard of were Ernesto, Ronnie Rosas, Francisco Galindo, Morro Paez, Rafael Martinez, and I am sure there were more but I don't know the names.

smart table and bar box

Can some one tell me what "smart" table is?

I also heard in the 80's efren wouldn't gamble with buddy hall on the small box, or at least was not the favorite can anyone confirm this?

"Tracy Joe" Salazar. He's into cue sticks now, but in his heyday, he was a very strong player.

Pepe from 4th and Main! I hear he and Keith had a few battles.

amc4 - I was entertaining doing the same thing here in St. Louis. I was thinking of doing it in a big warehouse as to have plenty of seating and high lights. I have a close friend that owns a company called "Sight & Sound". He does major commercials & motion pics. I think this is something that has the potential for big profits as long as it gets past the initial phase and op cost.
What I liked about St. Louis is our location. Center of everywhere and major airport. Many players come through often. The Internet "Door" won't be very good to start but with the right promotion and players playing, it could become BIG in no time. Who wouldn't pay (say $3.95) to watch Corey play Matlock or Efren or any number of players (LIVE)? - $3.95 Worldwide can add up pretty quick!
I might be of some help as far as Marketing goes so don't hesitate to ask.

The Diamond "Smart" table keeps time by the amount of quarters you put in it.

Like any smart player looking to gamble, when Efren came over in the early '80s, he was steered. When he came to Anaheim, his stakehorse brought him to Keith's home pool room, thinking they'd get a little action. He came to the right place. :D

Already the talk of the town, Keith had heard there was a stranger making the rounds. Efren's backer wanted action on the 9-foot table, but Keith, of course, preferred the bar box. ;)

Not wanting to see his action walk out the front door, Keith gives in and plays Efren getting the last two on the 9-foot table, 2 dimes a set, racing 11. Keith lost two sets, 11/10 and 11/10. Score another one for the Philippino Invasion. :p

That would be me. No 6 x 12's in the Sacramento area, so it's just a little one pocket at Hard Times in Sacramento now. Nice to see your game has kept improving. Hope to see you at the Hard Times 9 ball. John Henderson

After a cursory review of my notes, I now know who "Pepeeto" is, Jimmy, not realizing it was "Pepe." :p

Keith said he had played many a marathon set at 4th and Main, located in downtown L.A., and let's not forget Nutty Neros, another hot spot when action was prevalent. Keith broke four backers playing Pepe. He was a bulldog on the pool table, grinding it out to the bitter end, but always a gentleman on a field of green.

Does he still have the bar in El Monte? If you could PM me Pepe's phone number, Keith wanted to say hi to him and gab a little. :p

It's amazing what a small world it can be in pool sometimes. :)

How about Lil Al Romero shooting out of Gardena, CA. Tracy Joe's English is very good and he, Frank the Barber and Ron Rosas may be Americans of Mexican decent and not a part of an invasion like Morro, Francisico, King Kong and Raphael.
