Reno Tournament in Progress

It sounds like Edwin is hitting them pretty good, I would also keep an eye on Dennis Orcullo, I'm pretty sure were all aware he is capable of winning it all.

It's nice to see that Orcullo got his revenge against Deuel.

Another interesting matchup is Saez versus Deo Alpojara. From what I remember reading, Deo is young Filipino whipper-snapper on the verge of breaking out.

And watch out for Gandy Valle on the loser's side.

Deo recently won a tournement in Sacremento against some pretty good competition. A lot of talent in the bay area but he seems to be one of the few with the potential to take it to a higher level.

Thre brackets aren't being updated very frequently it seems. Same results listed 12 hours later.

My buddy Justin is a good dark horse to place well. Looking at the brackets, Orcullo looks like a lock to finish real high in this event.

I like Orcullo, J. Jones, Montal, and Deuel to take the top spots.

I still can't believe my friend C. McDonald lost to Austin Murphy. Murphy is a good future prospect but my friends estimate him at a 80-90 USPPA player. McDonald has been up in the 140-150's before when the ratings were harder. He doesn't play hardly at all anymore though (kids, family, work)

That guy Deo plays pretty good, he played my buddy Tinsley here in Modesto and I think they broke even...Look out for my other buddy Paul J. to do well, and of course you better watch out for Kim...He's won this thing more than once!....................Marc

12 year old Austin also beat fellow IPTer Bobby Hunter and now faces Geiler. That will be an interesting matchup. Geiler doesn't think anyone should ever beat him, LOL.

We still have a few others still in, Todd Marsh, and Don Wirtaman. Two Canucks facing off - Edwin and Bill Ganne. They both play super. Stan just lost hill-hill.

Gandy Valle is still in too. John Macias beat Parica 9-2 and Bernardo Chavez (King Kong) are having a great tournament.

I think the big story is Tyler Eydie scraping past Mary Rakin, only to fall to sister Michelle, who then beats 2 more and is still in! I roomed with her once and she is just a sweetie pie.

According to the brackets posted, he hasn't beaten Geiler yet, although he did beat another seasoned player in Bobby Hunter.

Great wins for Austin Murphy. I hope he goes all the way.

I did notice on the IPT website that Austin is listed as one of the challenge table players at a qualifier which is currently in progress today.

Liljon running a 6-pack on Jose Parica is another great win.

Chris Bartrum is still on the winners' side.

Can't wait to see the updates! :p

I seen the part about Geiler not thinking he should lose to anybody and jumped the gun sorry ladies, BE NICE TO SEE THE KID PULLA UPSET.

Very nice win for Lil John over Parica. If he stays hot, and gets the rolls, he might take Corey... He'll need a few moe wins to make expenses.

Well, it didn't happen, so since Todd and Stan have fallen, I guess I have to root for Geiler, lol. And Bill Ganne and Gandy.

Go Michelley!!!! Bobby Hunter is going to have his hands full with her!

Maybe Austin can make it back in time to take on the challenge matches. Otherwise, I wonder who will be filling in for him? I can't tell where he went on the B side.

Anybody have updates, it seems like those of us watching the brackets are the last to find out results:rolleyes:

Austin ended up losing at hill-hill to Gabe Owen. Great tournement for Austin; I think he will do challenge matches today at Jillians in San Francisco and maybe even a separate filmed match against the young player from Wales, J. Perry.

The young player from Wales is called Perry Foster and is obviously a useful convert from the small table pool game in UK;)

Thanks for correction on the name- I f'd that up pretty good. Seems like a nice kid. His parents are nice people too- his mom reads a book while he's playing because its too hard for her to watch.

He plays one of my good friends in the winner side finals of the San Francisco IPT qualifier this morning.

Hopefully he'll win the losers side bracket and save his mum the trip to LA for the next one ;)

Davenport is having a helluva tournament! Must be back into his old form. I know he likes the Reno event, and has won it before. They probably won't have the final match until 3 P.M. today (Sun.), so we may not know how it all shakes out until tomorrow.

It's hard to pick favorites, but I'm pulling for Kim Davenport!

It's very inspirational to see a player return to the pool scene after a hiatus AND hitting 'em as strong as Kim is today. Go get 'em, Kim!

BTW, GulfportDoc, I like your new avatar! :)

I too would like to see Kim ward off the Philipinos to win. You can't discount them or Bill Ganne, though. He must be well over 60 now, but has a fine command of the cueball and great potting skills.

A fine showing from the 2 youngsters, Austin and Michelle. Michelle dominates her regional tour in the Bay area. A widower, her father would take her and I believe her 4 siblings to the poolroom and they couldn't go unless their homework was done. They would play sets to see who had to do the dishes! There is a set of twins and her younger sister Mary plays jam up as well.

I remember when she was in her teens, Michelle roomed with Lisa D'Atri and me. Her father couldn't be there because he had to choose between her pro event and his younger son's Junior World Championships in Europe. She had some pro events already under her belt, so he was torn, but went to her brother's event instead. Lisa and I mothered her to death and had a blast.

She's not afraid to bet it up against the men and has a great future ahead of her in pool.

They have just updated the results!!!

Dennis Orcullo sends Davenport to the left side with a very convincing 9-1 win. He will now face Chen in order to earn a rematch with Orcullo.

Who do you think will emerge the champ?
