I know Mike pretty well, and my opinion of him COULD be much higher, but, with that said, I could see how someone would think that he's interesting.
When its all about Mike, he can be very engaging. And yes, the stories this particular world champion can tell are fascinating. Mike is surely one of the greatest players alive.
I don't know how much Mike was paid, but its pretty much common knowledge that any player can be "hired" for a weekend for $2000. This is particularly so if it aligns with their schedule. Some part of me thinks that's pretty sad, that the elite of our sport can be had for such a (relatively) low cost. I wish pool was popular enough that common folk couldn't afford such a venture. In the end, though, I'm glad both parties got exactly what they were after. The OP got a memory of a lifetime, and MS got some much needed cash.
