Hello AZB’ers,
I have noticed that when I attempt to raise my right hand (butt hand) all the way above my head, I feel pain in the shoulder area, but has no pain what so ever when I play pool, thank God, it is been going on for last year or so, the left hand, bridge hand, and back I have no issue. I asked another pool player and it seem related to shooting pool, does anyone have experienced such pain. Thanks much

I've had the same problem. My doctor diagnosed tendinitis and recommended shoulder surgery to shave down the ball joint in my shoulder that is causing the problem. I got a cortizone shot instead. Shoulder still has some pain, but not nearly as much as before.

only a doctor can diagnose your problem
there are many causes for shoulder pain

Thanks to Mole Eye and BBB

I agree BBB, doctor is the only way, but wanted to know if it is something related to pool, the pain is bearable, at some days it is better than others.

Do get examined. Anything else is guesswork. The way you describe it is classic, but there are always less common causes of such things so it's best to get examined and appropriate images and tests can be done.

The tendonitis your friend had is common, most likely the supraspinatus tendon. But it can be the muscle as well or a bursitis or one of the other rotator cuff muscles. It can also be a coracobrachialis bursitis as well as numerous other pathologies outside the rotator cuff. The interventions can vary depending on the nature, severity, and cause. Lastly there are pathologies in the abdomen and chest that can present in the shoulder and would need to be ruled out by history and physical examination.

So....see your doctor. :)
