Has anyone tried one of these?
http://www.resp-o-rator.com/

I have a full beard and have always had a problem with respirators. I need it just for wood dust, not spraying..
Any other beard suggestions?
This thing if it works like they describe and is not too uncomfortable to wear looks pretty good. I never heard of it before I just saw it. Looks like it has been around for a while.

I have used one for about a year now---the only con about it is the nose clip is a little uncomfortable but you can switch that out for a swimming one, other than that it works great.

Thanks, I am going to order one Monday. I wish the one in the other post existed the idea looks really good.

First thing this morning I ordered one. I went off a little and got extra filters and mouth pieces. A little expensive for what it is but when it comes to your health it is never a waste of money.

I don't think there is anything else on the market like this. I also need to improve the air in the shop in general. You want to get rid of the suspended dust that can hang around.

Thanks for your input

Macguy, thanks for this thread. I have had trouble getting a mask that works with my beard. This seems to be the answer. I just got done reading all the reviews I can find and all are very positive. I will be ordering one myself really soon.

Just to follow up. I ordered the respirator and it came Thursday. I have worn it for two days now and I love it. It is funny I have never seen this thing before and I was just watching a show tonight called "Big giant sword makers", and the guy was waring what looked like the same respirator I just bought.

So I went looking on the net to see if it was in fact the same one and I found this clip on youtube. I don't think you have to have a beard to maybe like this device. Take a look

I think the nose clip it comes with is just token. It is probably expected you will probably get one you like better and fits better. I am heading over to Dicks Sporting goods this morning to get another nose clip.

I am really glad I discovered this thing this solve a long ongoing problem.
I have to admit though I am already looking at designing one myself. Using the same idea with a snorkel like mouth piece, but with a connection that will adapt to commonly available filters on the market for regular masks.

That would give you the option of what kind of filter you want to use. Doesn't look like it will be hard to do. For now though this thing is great.

I have had masks like those, am not sure they are designed for a full beard. Either way, I didn't like to have that on my head for 6 or 8 hours. It feels like a punishment after a while. This snorkel thing is like nothing, you almost forget it is there. If you want a drink you just take it out of your mouth in a second.

Long periods of time with something stuck in your mouth like a scuba tank.

And having to pinch off your nose so you're not tempted to breath thru your nose.

I know that I wouldn't like that feeling.

You would think so but it isn't. The mouth piece is different then a SCUBA tank and the whole thing is very light. When you walk away from what you are working on you can just drop it from your mouth and it rest on your shoulders.

It is so easy and comfortable in no time you forget it is there. I could see someone having to get used to the nose clip but that is a small trade off. I have no problem with my glasses now also.

I bought a nose clip today at Dicks Sporting goods. It is very comfortable. The one that comes with the gizmo is not all that good. It worked but I wanted something that fit better.

My glasses were a real problem with the half masks. And then with the beard, forget about it, masks just didn't work. No matter how tight I made the masks if I put my hands over the filters blocking them off and breathed in, air came in everywhere.

For me at least, this thing is a real lifesaver I could not be happier.
