Ok..Results are coming in now.

Sambajon wins easy.

Sam Frangie the Aussie beats Paez 10-7

Joiner sneaks in 10-9 over Chilten

Hemmah, Hernandez and Hybler win.

Biggest upset so far...

Foldes apparently got his butt kicked by Boyes 3-10.

Ortmann also blanked Paez 10-0.

Just a correction Calc, Frangie beat Saez, not Paez.

Bennett and Foldes deserved a first round win after doind so well in the other qualifiers. Against this field, its gonna be tough to fight back...

Boyes is a very good english player who has been sponsored for all of the qualifiers. He beat Darren Appleton 7:0 in the first round of the recent BPPPA Nottingham Open, shortly after Darren finished 2nd in the Czehc Euro Tour in Prague!

Fantastic result to beat Foldes, just goes to show that the English 8 ballers are going to make an impression this year on the IPT

SIDE NOTE:
The UK has the second largest showing on the IPT with something like 25 players. If I said the following players are currently NOT on the IPT:

Majid
Peach
Crosby
Knight
Broumpton
Morris

Some might argue that they all would be in the top 10 in the UK?!

Looks like Paez had one inning at the table. Ortmann looks like a monster today.

Sally Timko on the IPT site said:
The first six consecutive racks was run by former world champion Oliver “The Machine” Ortmann of Germany in his match against Ismael “Morro” Paez, a staple at Hard Times Billiards. Ortmann explained, “I ran out the first three racks, and then I broke and didn’t make a ball on the break, and then I ran that out after he missed, and then I ran another six. I tried not to miss, that’s how I did it.

Oliver's BAAAAACCCKKK! :D

And Wu seems to have worked out the cloth with a 7 pack in round 2 after a scare in round 1.

To jsp: Thanks for the correction on my Saez - Paez blunder. I always struggle with Italian names :p :D

16 players left on the winners side...

6 Americans - Joyner, Frangie (not Australian?), Frost, Trainer, McCullough, Breedlove

2 Filipinos - Kiamco, Orcollo

2 Germans - Schmidt, Ortmann

2 Japenese - Takenaka, Takami

1 Canadian - Hjorliefson

1 Taiwanese - Wu

1 Mexican - Rivera

1 Fin? (not sure if identified flag correctly) - Broumpton

There are still a mess load of Brits still alive on the losers side. Sad to see Foldes, Sambajon, and Wiley already eliminated.

Haha, sorry.

Why didn't they just put up the ole red, white, blue, crossy flag thingy? I doubt anyone outside of England would have guessed that flag correctly. :)

Thanks for the pic Timberly.

All you Brits look the same. :p

EDIT: I noticed they're now using the traditional UK flag on the IPT site so to not confuse ignorant Americans such as myself. :D

Noticed that a Victor Ignacio from the Philippines is still working it out on the losers side. Not familiar at all with him. Any got some info? Also, who is Trainer from America?

BTW, Gallego, Ignacio, Kiamco from PI are still alive on the losers side, and Orcollo is still alive on the winners side.

I asked the Victor Ignacio question on another forum and was answered by no less than Bandido (Edwin Reyes). He says and I quote:

"aka Victor Castro (if you look for him in old isues of P&B). He's a Pinoy based in San Diego and was one of those who toured Luat and Andam in the West Coast when these guys were unknown there. hehe. There're a couple more good Pinoy players there, Lorrie and Alex. I used to hang around with our boys in tournaments and after-hours card games back when I was there in CA, always a riot! "
