Pool Wars by Jay Helfert is easily the best pool book of this type hands down. It will transport you back in time. A time in pool when every poolroom in America had wall-to-wall action, many characters, and mystery roadmen. It takes the reader from the very early 1960’s to now. I read the whole book in one sitting. A lot of times during the read I felt like I was right there in the place Jay was writing about. I just couldn’t put it down.

Pool Wars is well written, with no fluff to get more pages. This is a book every pool player and anyone into the history of sports will enjoy. Pool Wars will sell many copies when it goes on sale in the big online bookstores IMO. Thanks Jay for a great book. Johnnyt

JohnnyT,

As with you, I also finished reading the book in one sitting. It wasn't my intention, I came home, found it sitting in my mailbox, opened it and started reading and couldn't put it down.

Like Dan McGoorty stories as told by Byrne, I predict Jay's book will soon be up there.

I just ordered a copy. Sounds like a great read. I also ordered a couple of the dvd's he has on the site.

Got mine the day before i left for vegas. Ill start it tonight and if its as good as yall say ill probably finish it too. I read willie's story, cornbreads book and mgooortys in one sitting so ill let yall know how it was tommorow.

I read all them also, and many more over the years and Jay's was the only one I couldn't put down. McGorty's was very good too IMO. Johnnyt

I'm very happy to see this thread and thrilled to know how well the book is written. Jay will be at the BCA and I have ordered his book to sell in my booth. Jay will also be around to do an autograph signing so stop by and pick up a copy or bring yours for Jay to sign.
